I had an appointment at Scotiabank, but unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. Despite having scheduled my visit, I ended up waiting for over an hour. None of the staff seemed responsive or concerned about the wait times. This lack of efficiency and customer care was frustrating and unacceptable. I hope they can improve their service standards to respect customers' time in the future.
Firstly, the only reason why this visit was positive was because a teller named Cherry helped me. I bank with Tangerine which you can go through Scotiabank should you need a physical bank/ATM, and I was trying to deposit a bank draft into a real estate brokerage account, that also banks with Scotiabank, to deposit my first and last months rent. I had two bank tellers write me off, tell me to use my debit card at the ATM and deposit it there which is stupid because why would I deposit it back into my own account, and not even listen to what I was saying. Thankfully, a bank teller named Cherry helped me out a third time and I got my deposit in on time. She helped problem solve all the issues, and made sure everything was in order. I’m so happy Cherry helped me thanks again!
Today I visited this branch but faced with very bad and unpleasant attitude of the assistant manager.nWe were went there to solve the technical problem instead of he cut down the other employee assistance to us and start asking like he is attorney.nVery bad behaviour and disrespects with the customers. From the assistant manager.nI won’t want to go this branch anymore.
Scotiabank is a really good bank for financing needs. It detects a fraud instantly and holds the account. However, my experience with the fraud investigation specifically to my home branch, which was at the Golden Mile location was really frustrating and not a pleasant experience. It was my first time. I am not here to pinpoint any names but the staff needs coaching, training and well-deserved management to understand how the customer feels during this stressful time. The people which are the fraud department staff, tellers, financial advisor and branch manager does say different things and it is not right as a loyal client. Firstly, no one told me that a debit investigation takes 10 business days to solve the matter. After a week of the fraud, I actually got a temporary card from another branch closer to my work but then they closed it. Even fraud department said the card is ready for pickup at home branch. I left early from work. When I went to the home branch your location no one could explain to me what was happening. During this time, I had to connect the fraud department to the branch manager to authorize a new card using the Scotiabank phone. At the end, they were waiting for an email from the detection centre which had no reply. The branch manager, J, needs a coaching. A training on how to deal with customers. She basically took the call and told them that the email will be sent. I was not aware what would happen afterwords as she went directly to her office and was not present. I heard from the fraud department. She did not show any empathy to not care in dealing with the issue. Just walked away. The financial advisor, A, was amazing in terms of tell me the inside scoop as to what was going on, yet he did not know what to do as this was not his expertise. I was worried and frustrated because my account was on hold past 10 days and no one really gave me an update nor even cared to acknowledge the customer. Bad customer service service. Most people at this branch needs to get retrained on a lot of skills such as customer service, attentiveness and listening. The branch manager definitely needs retraining. I am writing this to inform that I do not want anyone else to go through the experience that I felt at this branch. Be careful. Thanks
Banks are less than ideal at the best of times. But I have been treated respectfully at all times and any problems I've had have been with the bank system itself, not with the people working here.
