Very interesting izakaya! The interior is narrow like in Tokyo, and the lights are dim. I really like the atmosphere of the place as it does remind me of Japan! The food is quite delicious, and the same as well can be enjoyed in a very fun way - you can take shots of the sake by doing a sake bomb hitting the table to make the sake glass fall into another glass from the top of chopsticks! My only wish is that I wish there was a wider variety of menu items.
First time to Ikki Sake Bar. The food is delicious and special. Clean environment and . Highly recommended if you want to go out for a few shots of drink and delicious meal.
My first time here, it's a great cozy little place with great snacks and some really fun cocktails. The plum sake was delicious and the featured cocktail had a smoke bubble to top it off. Excellent service and a live DJ when we went.
Small sake bar with a chill vibe. Has some really good tasting sake cocktails and appetizers, such as Spam fries better than it sounds, trust me. The sake bombs are a fun thing to do with friends and quite tasty and reasonably priced you get 2 for the price on the menu.
It was a cool place to check out, I love Japanese whiskey and Shake so I had to try this place, they had technical difficulties in the kitchen so I can't really tell if the food was good because I didn't have any, the ladies behind the bar seemed like they were new and was still learning how to make some of the cocktails but I give them A+ for effort, they did not do too bad and the drinks they made even if they had to look up the recipe for them was pretty good.
All smoke & mirrors from this place… I am truly sad to say that I was exceptionally disappointed. I decided on this place because it looked like a fun environment with a unique cocktail and food menu to celebrate a friend’s work accomplishment. Their website and Instagram profile really gives you the impression that you will have a memorable and gossip worthy experience… but you will most likely be fooled. This place advertises many cocktails that should come with an experience - edible smoke bubbles and edible gold flakes - however, even though 2 out of the 3 guests ordered cocktails that should come with such things did not. The timing on cocktails here is slower, which wouldn’t have been a problem had our drinks came with what they were supposed to. We ordered quite a few things off the menu to share as it is more like a tapas style; our table was consistently left with empty glassware and plates so that when anything new arrived it was hard to make room. Even though the table maintenance was evident, this part of the service was lacking. This is a small and very intimate restaurant and I thought it was surprising at the lack of table maintenance and interaction from our servers. All said, I wish I would have had a better experience considering it was a $130 tab. My expectations were too high I suppose. I went, I tried, and I will not be back again.
Ikki is a great little sake bar. They've just opened back up after some renovations and they've got a brand new menu. This would be a great spot to hit after partying down the ave. Our favourite was the Ebi shrimp cocktail and the Choco shots. The Choco comes with two green tea slices of cheesecake with choco sauce. Dessert shots and cheesecake?! What's not to like.
I have been twice and the first time, a year ago, was an excellent experience. Great food, service and great drinks. But when I went last night with my boyfriend to celebrate his 30th it was lack luster for both of us. We sat at the bar and it felt like all the servers were new. Which there is nothing wrong with other than the fact it felt like they were trying to ignore us. It is a very busy location, despite it's quaint size, so I don't expect to be waited on the entire time. But I do expect a bit of hospitality which I do not think we received at all. No one was rude, just disengaged/distracted. The drinks didn't feel special, the plum sake bomb didn't have the gummy bears in it like the first time which was disappointing. The food was tasty but also felt flat and not worth the price. Overall we enjoyed ourselves enough...but not enough to be back I think. Worth trying once if you have the money to spend.
great ambiance! Love this place, as soon as u come in there's this ambiance that welcomes you and keeps you in. The bartender was awesome, very attentive and courteous.Food: 5/5
Servers were really nice, loved the music, interior was impressive, sat here more than couple hours easily. The whole vibe made us comfortable. Definitely will come back, it just became one of the nicest time we spent in Edmonton.
