Safeway Southgate

It's decent. Little expensive compared to fresco or save on. Every grocery stores no matter who are always low on stock. I miss the days of grocery stores full of goods

Had a bad experience one of the staff , seems racist . Thought I was doing something bad . Ask me 3 times what I’m looking for . I told him Rick I’m ok still insist asking . Looking at me from head to my feet . Honestly shopping here for almost 5 years no one ever ask what I’m looking for . And now ask me what I’m looking for assuming I’m doing something bad . The nerve! Train your people! How to approach customer !! And learn to distinguish who are good customer from a bad one !!!

Some great deals on some items not so much on others. There are never enough cashiers but keeps 3 stars due to the fact its a great store for autism. Darker/softer lights and nicer staff when you do interact with them.

Went in for Flowers and the florist was super friendly and great to talk to while she created a beautiful arrangement for my mother in law.

I"m here like 3 times a week. The self check outs never work and things are like double the price they were 2 years ago. It's astronomical the greed. And they seem to want to make me sign up for a Scene card, scene cards are for movie theatres. Anyhow, the quality of the food is bad now. I have shopped mostly at Safeway for 25 years. Now I go to the Italian Centre shop on 51 Ave for my big weekly shopping trip because it's the same price now.

I'm giving this review based on the treatment I recieved while in this store. I will not mention my race but I will say I was not impressed by this safeway. I came into this safeway with my grandmother because she usually grabs stuff for lunch before work. Upon entering I was met by a woman who was very interested in me. She followed from one side of the store right to the isle I was going to. When I grabbed my one item I noticed this woman at the end of the isle making it very apparent she was outstretching her neck to keep a clear visual of me. I stated my disapproval at this treatment and was met with a male Manager who was very adamant at defending his employee. Wasn't until I told him what I just gone through that I got an apology. More and more I see this treatment and I think it is very uncivil and unfair. I am not impressed and I don't support establishments that treat customers like this. I truly felt discriminated against and racially profiled at this southgate safeway.

I bought a birthday cake on Sept 7 and it said packaged on Sept 6 It was so dry, it was terrible. The icing was like eating whipped oil and tasted of nothing. I've always bought my cakes at Safeway, but it will be the last time. Also price went up and cake size went down. Disappointing!

Located on the north east of the Southgate shopping mall, Safeway boasts its quality products and many more. There are two doors, one on the north and one on the west as you are leaving the North entrance of the Southgate mall.

Great products and the sales were fantastic. Whoever is on self checkouts today could use some more customer experience, like offering paper bags when a customer is clearly searching around for some and not making side comments while we are scanning our groceries through.

Daily hot food specials have great deals they also have starbucks, good customer service and well managed grocery store
