Roman Zaman Damascene Cuisine

Absolutely loved this restaurant. Authentic Syrian cuisine! Very rare that I feel a restaurant would score full marks on 3 main aspects for me - ambiance, food quality and service. The food is cooked to perfection, meat off the grill still maintains a lovely moisture and does not feel like rubber at other middle eastern grills / restaurants. Service is fantastic with the owner present on Saturday evenings mingling with the guests. Cleanliness and ambience of the restaurant is always top notch. Presentation and mood is kept lively allowing you to really enjoy some good company over some amazing dishes. "Roman" meaning Pomegranate and Zaman" hinting at much simpler & older times is where the restaurant gets its identity from. Many of the dishes are prepared with pomegranate molasses as an ingredient. Prices for this amazing place are also very affordable. Will be returning here for many days to come.

Beautiful decor. Service is ok, soup came ice cold, like out of the fridge cold, we had to ask for extra bowls and bowls then water; all of which should be provided considering the number of guests sharing the food is obvious. Hummus tastes great and is different from other restaurants. Sausage and fries is very good. We had chicken soup and mix grill plate; both were quite delicious. Their pomegranate sauces and incorporation of pomegranates in many of their dishes makes them unique. Unfortunately I don’t like lamb, and I felt like even their beef smelled like lamb, therefore I was only able to eat some chicken.

The atmosphere and decor of this restaurant was really nice. The staff weren't too friendly but the service was quick despite the larger crowds. Their complementary bread is amazingly soft and at just the right temperature for dipping into hummus or whatever side dish you may have ordered. However, when it came to the main course (chicken shawarma sandwich among other dishes) the general feeling around the table was that the food was very salty with small portion. All in all, if the salt levels are reduced and the service improved, this place can get be one of the best middle-eastern restaurants in town.

Every time i decide to go there and give them another chance, they insist on proving me wrong and prove that they have the worst service everrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Should you like to wait for 15 min and get charged for something then they come another 15 minutes telling you that they do not have what you just ordered. On top of that, you will not get your money back on your card, because none of the staff or the restaurant manager know how to refund money to customers. They will ask you to come later in the day where the owner is back and he is the only one who knows how to refund using the machine. When you give up and decide to take it cash, they do not even have an exact amount and you have to look for change to give them back the difference. at least 30 minutes wasted in a restaurant which was dead empty and the staff still took forever to respond to an order that was not even completed after all. Would never ever recommend it to anyone. They serve horrible customer service for free with your order.

Ambience of this place is beautiful. Came here again and again with family. Very friendly staff. Great owner. Food is fantastic. Every person i brought here loves this place. Good job Roman Zaman!
