Nice environment, it’s nice and casual. The ramen is good, good quality, good taste not amazing. Very earthy and rich flavour but nothing out of extraordinary. I’ll go again but it’s not on my top 5 ramen places. What I did liked is that they have a VEGAN option, so any vegans looking for ramen places: this one is for you.
Ordered their vegan ramen here, even though they’re not known for this. I would say I’ve had better vegan ramen elsewhere as the soup is a bit lacklustre. Their appetizers are amazing though. And if you come during the weekday in the afternoon 3pm-5pm, there’s happy hour 30% off for all the items on the menu.
Went there for the first time during happy hours. 30% off everything. Order two different shoyu soup base and both are outstanding. Wife likes the white pork bone soup based ramen. It's got a little bit hint of spicy to it. And she loves it. I prefer the plain soup base because it is just as good. We also ordered gyoza as well. Gyoza was pan fried perfectly. Fillings were nice, skin were thin and over all excellent. Ramen itself has a lot of flavor to the soup. Not overly salty in my own opinion, just right amount of everything. Noodle itself was firm not over cooked. Just the way I like it. Egg was done properly. Chausu was mostly lean but not too dry and fatty part balance it out. Over all its a bowl of awesomeness. Happy hour price just made it superb value for what we got. Waitress was attentive and asked if we were first time there and which one do we like better. We told her everything were excellent and we liked what we ordered. I am glad it's opening another location in Richmond alberdeen center. Since it's close to us and I can see it will be packed if they offer happy hours there. Credit card friendly and we got lucky on parking for this one.
Amazing ramen in a back halley. Get out of Robson street and their over priced a d over full restaurant. This restaurant is tiny but the service is great and fast. Nice and simple decor make you feel relax in a different country. One long table where everyone eat together a d couple small one too. I tryied the pork was amazing a d tender. I also took the truffle ramen with real sliced truffle on top. It was not a traditional ramen that you can expect but it tasted so good and the noodles were perfectly cooked too. I will go back in a heart beat.
To keep this short and sweet. Ramen Taka is perhaps the best ramen restaurant in Vancouver. If you appreciate soup, then you'll appreciate the multi-layered experience of this soup. The first sip will make you say wow and then the second you'll start to notice the dimensions of it. The only thing to keep in mind is that they serve their pork lean and only lean. Besides that, their broths are truly one of a kind and it is a MUST TRY. Also try their chicken karaage because it's light and their batter is close to something like churches chicken. 99% bar seating only so try not to come in with a big group.
Super yummy ramen! I had the shoyu ramen which I normally never get but it was recommended and I didn’t regret it one bit. One of my new favourite ramen spots. The flavours are very strong in a great way. Wasn’t spicy at all but my girlfriend got the miso ramen and it was also very good but a bit spicy. The broth was thick, the pork was dry and delicious in a good way, and had nice chucks of bamboo in it. Cute outdoor seating and the nicest bathroom I’ve seen in a while. With a bidet! Not too expensive but the portions are not as big as some ramen places. The owner came to our table as was very friendly with good recommendations. Nice location as well. Will be back!
I came here for lunch. I read about bad and good reviews on Yelp, but I did have higher expectation on their ramen. This ramen restaurant used to be The Ramenman. After Ramen Taka took over, they renovated the restaurant and changed the interior design completely. The ambience and interior look good. They kept the high bar table in the middle of the restaurant and two smaller tables inside. They replaced the chairs to suit the interior design. I ordered the Supreme Dragon Miso ramen. It had a blend of several miso in the broth. It tasted great. It lost a star, because the broth had too much lard/oil. I felt like every single spoon of noodle was soaked in oil. If I knew there was so much oil, I would have asked for "half" of the lard instead of a full amount. The ramen came with half of a soft boiled egg. The soft boiled egg was not the best that I had better ones somewhere else. However, I liked the chashu. There was no fat at all and it was not too dry! That was awesome! I don't like chashu with LOTS of fat. Some ramen places don't care about people's health and serve fatty chashu! Pricing was reasonable and customer service was good. All the servers were friendly. I am not sure if all the servers are Japanese or from other Asian countries, but one seems her English is not good. She took customers' orders next to our table incorrectly or she did not know how to explain to the customers. Customers had frustration to get the ramen correctly. Maybe this ramen restaurant is still new. After we paid the bill, a server brought some small gifts to our table or customers. We could choose from the following options: a pair of wooden chopsticks, a chopstick stand, and a pin with the restaurant logo. We chose the chopsticks as we could use them at home. I would recommend others to try this ramen restaurant. I would still say this ramen restaurant is above average. I hope their business continues to grow and go well and stay competitive in the market.
I went there for their spicy ramen challenge... an unfortunately I failed because I did not finish all of the soup... The ramen is really spicy but I love that!!! My friend ordered the original ramen with pork and she was surprised by the big portion... the price is reasonable but one suggestion is about the pork since it is too dry... anyway... I will definitely go there again for the spicy ramen!
Truly love this place! One of the best Ramen spots in Vancouver, and there's no shortage of those nearby on Robson Street. The Hokkaido style broth is fatty and salty, which coats nicely the thick noodles resulting in rich flavors with every spoon. You can choose to have it half-salt or half-fatty if you're health conscious. Service was perfect too. Supreme Dragon is a Japanese classic and a must-try!
ramentaka.ca is directly operated by the management team in Hokkaido. This Japanese chain has 5 locations in Japan and has the Vancouver one as their FIRST overseas spot! This means that you can enjoy some local Japanese food right here in Vancouver! ramentaka.ca takes their broth game very seriously. Most ramen places make chicken or pork-based broth, which takes less time. At Ramen Taka, their clear broth is made from a mixture of pork, vegetables, and seafood. For their miso, they also add fruit for that sweetness and rich flavour! Since Hokkaido is colder, they also add lard to lock in the heat of the broth. Lastly, you can also customize your broth with less salt or less lard. ramentaka.ca definitely has the largest chashu I’ve ever seen with ramen. To complement the rich broth, their meat is less fatty. To best enjoy this chashu, it is advised to submerge the chashu in the broth to moisten it. P.s. do you know they also got vegan broth made with miso and konbu seafood. Also, do you know they got happy hours from 2-5 Monday to Friday? Try their sides and drinks during this time! ramentaka.ca makes their own noodles. They use a flour from Chilliwack and don’t add eggs. They do this so the noodles can stay firm in the broth that is very hot
