I LOVED this hotel! I actually had a reservation at a different hotel in the area, but after being very disappointed in the state of that hotel I decided to pay the extra money to book here, and boy I'm glad I did! The historic building is so beautiful! We had dinner in the dining room the first night, which was VERY delicious and the portions were amazing for the price. We had dinner and drinks in the bar the second night, which was also incredible and decently priced. The morning of checkout we had breakfast and coffee in the cafe, and again we were not disappointed! All throughout the stay the service was amazing, everyone was very friendly, the room was so clean and so comfortable, and I was obsessed with the electric blinds in my room! I will definitely be booking here again soon!
Where to even start. My wife and I booked a hotel block here over 9 months before our wedding. We were told we could only get 20 rooms at the block rate but other guests could book outside the block once it was full. No problem, we quickly filled the block and many other guests booked rooms outside of it. We were good to go.nnFast forward to 4 months out, we call the hotel to check on room availability. The front desk tells us the hotel is actually overbooked that day. We initially panic but call the same representative who helped us with the block, and she assures us all our guests will be fine, so we do nothing.nnFast forward to less than 48 hours until our wedding. We are at the rehearsal and start getting frantic calls and texts from guests both inside and outside the block that the hotel either cancelled them or sent them to a different hotel. No heads up to us who have a contract with the hotel, they just start cancelling without telling us. We immediately call the same rep that helped us before, she assures us it’s a misunderstanding and if we send a complete list of our guests, she will sort it out and no one will be moved without us getting a call first. We do this immediately and assume all is now fine.nnLess than an hour later, we start getting more calls and texts from guests being cancelled. The hotel lied to us, they are cancelling more people without calling us first. The next 24 hours are then spent getting passed around from staff member to staff member, being told different things, and no one is actually helping us or being honest that they have no solution to the problem. Finally we get the truth, this isn’t a computer glitch, they overbook the hotel as a policy to ensure they fill all the rooms like some airlines do. After several more hours of calling and threatening litigation, finally we get someone to go through our whole list with us of who has a room and who doesn’t so we on our own can help those without find new rooms and rearrange our shuttles to go to new hotels for the displaced guests. Instead of enjoying our upcoming wedding, we’re stressing and panicking to find everyone from out of town rooms to stay in.nnI can’t say enough about how unprofessional the staff that runs this place is. They hide behind a “computer glitch” but if you scan through the reviews from past weddings, and you’ll see this is nothing new, it’s business as usual. Everyone else at the hotel is great, we loved the cleaning staff, bartenders, doormen, etc. But this place will knowingly overbook the hotel, never call to tell you there is an issue, and just start cancelling guests two days before. They also will try to make you feel bad by telling you there are two other wedding blocks there in the same boat as you without a paddle. As if them also screwing others over is supposed to make you feel better about what they did to your guests. “Hospitality” is supposed to mean something, it doesn’t here. Book at your own risk, I think it’s safe to say we will not be returning.
This is a hotel you come to for the history and oldness. You don't come for the large rooms and bathrooms, although it is very nice and the rooms have been updated. The shower is small, be aware if you are close to 6ft. The bathroom is small, the need feels more like a full than a queen. Towels are 1 per person.nThe staff was great at check in! This place holds so many memories for me, I could not imagine staying any place else!nI came here as a child to look around and see where my dad use to get the train. So this place is more about memories and thinking of him than luxury!
I arrived at the hotel at 2:30, only to be told that I couldn’t check in until 3, despite rooms clearly being available. This was a waste of time, especially in a foreign city. The hotel is located right next to a noisy train station, which made it difficult to relax. To make matters worse, there was a bad smell throughout the property, and the bed was hard and uncomfortable.nnThe restaurant experience was equally disappointing. Lisa was the only staff member working, which led to long wait times for food, especially at the bar. When it finally arrived, it was far from satisfactory.
I recently traveled to Scranton for a 3 day work meeting at the Radisson Lackawanna Station Square and overall I was very pleased with the experience. My room was well kept and clean, the housekeeping staff does a wonderful job! I was helped at the front desk by Jada, and let me tell you she is a rock star!! She was pleasant, helpful and very good at her job!
