Great hotel, beautiful interior architecture, great service in the two restaurants that are inside of the hotel. The room was spacious, a little on the pricier side, but worth it. The bathroom smelled a little like bleach/chlorine and that is the only complaint I have.
Very beautiful hotel! Stayed there for a friend’s wedding and I enjoyed every minute. The front desk receptionist was so sweet and helpful. If you’re staying there, definitely try one of their restaurants on property. My friend and I loved Trax Bar + Kitchen delicious cocktails and mocktails available and the truffle Parmesan fries will knock your socks offnOur room was clean upon entry and had a beautiful view of the Scranton “Electric City” sign.nDefinitely recommend staying here if you’re visiting Scranton.
I stay here on business. I don't stay often, maybe 20 nights a year. The hotel is never full and other than its beautiful interior, it has it's problems. e.g. rusty water from the faucets. This is why I can't understand why they charged me for an early checkout on my last visit basically an extra night's charge. It may be policy but it seems like a bad way to make a few bucks, especially from your loyal customers.nThere is no demand for the hotel never full and I'm a repeat guest. Save those fees for non-business, single-stay guests.nAnyway, I called and tried to explain to see if they would remove the charge but made no headway. I don't really think anyone cares.nRegardless, they've lost my business and that of my co-workers as well.nBye-bye Choice Hotels...
This place was beautiful. Historic building, beautifully renovated and clean. We got a Jacuzzi suite and enjoyed our stay immensely. It was within walking distance to The Ritz where we saw a performance, there's a few restaurants in and around the location, and it was very comfortable. My only complaints are the bed is very firm, and you hear pretty much everything from the rooms around you, the hallways, and even the traffic and people outside.
I was there for a conference, so can only comment on the conference rooms.nnThe building is physically dirty on the outside. Inside, it's either bad decorating choice or lack of updating. Everything looks worn. The parking is a mess. There is also an odd smell, almost like old books, but wet.nnPositives: It is easy to find. The dining area gives a timeless, sophisticated vibe, but was not open at the time I was there.nnStaff interaction. The receptionist sent me in the wrong direction twice, with a bit of irritation; when she realized her mistake, she was apologetic. This was the only staff I saw the entire day, the place was very quite.nnOverall, I wasn't impressed. It's supposed to be old and classy, but it's definitely in need of renovation.
