Providence Marriott Downtown

My spouse had work conference here and his stay started on Sunday-Friday. I met up with him on Wednesday and stayed until the end of the reservation. This hotel was about 20 mins from the airport and upon arrival the lobby was clean and lively. We had a King size room and I enjoyed having the couch to sit on during the day. I also liked that the hotel window opens up just a little bit so you can let in some fresh air. The side we were on was next to the train track and I heard the train plenty of times but after a while I tuned it out. The room has a mini fridge and coffee maker, downstairs in the lobby is where the microwave is located. It was about a 20 min walk to some of the restaurants. It was dark early but I never felt unsafe the whole walk. We also uber over to Ben and Jerry's and walked back from there and that was about a 25 min walk. Again we felt safe as there were other people out and walking around in that area. Overall the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Would stay here again if ever in the area.

I paid $300 2 weeks ago for 1 night and when I check the price for today it’s at $160. I paid extra for trying to book in advance. that’s fine I’ll live with it. I come to check in just for them to charge me $33 just for parking. Why is it that the customers still have to pay for parking in your lot that WE as customers already pay for to stay for the night. Then come to find out there’s sign saying the jacuzzi and pool are closed. The whole reason I booked this hotel weeks prior was to enjoy the indoor pool with the family. This just ruined my Christmas holiday for the family. I promise you that you can find better hotels then dealing with this nonsense

Pros: Comfortable bed. Clean rooms. Modern bathroom. Magnificent M/executive lounge.nnCons: looks like an apartment complex from outside. Outdated halls. Carpet in room needs to be removed/not so clean. A bit away from downtown but I saw shuttles. I had tp ask the receptionist too many questions on check in where is the lounge, where is the gym etc. I always thing that they should hit the basis stuff.

It's near the freeway about 20 min from the providence airport. The dinner was GREAT! Fresh seafood and crab cakes...to die for. Thank you Victoria at the grille bar for the recommendations. She gave excellent and attentive service.nnIt's in the downtown area so I didn't feel safe to cross the busy streets. There are however fantastic rated restaurants less than 10 min driving time. Hemenways was top rated I was also told by the locals that the Roger Williams Park zoo had a fantastic pumpkin carving spectacular going on right now.nnDidn't bring Archie but they do allow pets.

One of the night receptionist was not very nice, she gave an attitude to us even when she wasn't helping us check-in.nThe rooms are a little outdated and needs to be renovated. The sink was not deep enough and the water splashed everywhere.nThe window is not fully insulated since there was still a big draft coming into the room making the room chilly at night.nThe breakfast needs more variety - it was the same things every morning. The omelette chef was great!nThe indoor pool was too cold and we couldn't spend more than 5 mins in it...
