Great location and fantastic service. The hotel was all dressed up for the holidays and it did not disappoint. Loved the room upgrade as a Hilton traveler and so enjoyed the extra space to unwind. Coffee shop was busy and coffee was good. Bar was great for a quick drink before the big night out.
Location, location, location! Right in the heart of the city and super walkable, both to city highlights and all of the local colleges and universities.nnIt is in the heart of the city, and cities are typically loud, so it can be noisy at times.nnBed was very comfortable.nnBathroom and other amenities were a little dated.nnGym was nice and lots of cool space to relax outside of your room.
We decided to put together a last second holiday getaway to one of our favorite cities, Providence RInnWe had a gift certificate for the Graduate Hotel that was 2 years old but the certificate stated that it would never expire.nnWe made a reservation with the booking company listed online and were instructed to bring the actual gift certificate when we registered.nnUpon arrival I handed the gift certificate to the receptionist and was told that they no longer honored gift certificates with the Graduate since they were now owned by Hilton Honors, certainly a misnomer therennI remained calm telling the receptionist that I was certain that she must be mistaken and requested to see the manager. I was told she was also the night manager and there was nothing she could do.nn“What about the booking company telling me to just bring the gift certificate” I queried. I was told that I should take up with the booking company, the one listed on their website.nnIn the midst of our discussion my wife asked if she could use the bathroom and was told by another receptionist “she could try the one up one level if it is open”nnWhat an incredibly awful experience.nnWe had reservations at a restaurant, Bellinis with another couple and no longer live in RI so going back home was not an optionnnI knew that Bellinis was in the ground floor of the Beatrice Hotel so I called them explaining our dilemma and they instructed us to come over and they would find a nice room for us.nnThe rest of the night went even better than planned after such a disastrous startnnWe are Hilton Honors members and have always been happy with our hotel experience.nnI will never step foot inside the Graduate Hotel in Providence and recommend to everyone to do the same
I would not classify this hotel as “upscale or luxury.” It is a very old building and we were told that it is a two pipe system so either AC or heat. Since it is fall, heat was the only option. When I arrived to my room it was 81. They told me to Turn the fan off and open the window. Well, the window opens about 5 inches, has no screen, and allows the extremely loud sounds of downtown come into the room. The first night it got up to 86 in the room with the loud sounds of people outside, music blaring from cars, and street racing. I called the front desk and was told they had no fans and maintenance would look in the morning. The next night I was able to get a fan which did help slightly room got to 79. I understand this is an old building but for how much they are charging per night this feels unacceptable. Additionally, I wouldn’t want to have the heat blowing air because look at all the dust in the vents see image. Also, there are not enough outlets in the room so if you have multiple devices needing charging you need to strategically space them out. Overall, I would not stay here again and was very disappointed by this experience.
I got a little worried when I looked at reviews *after* I booked the hotel room, but we had a great stay. People saying the rooms were dirty, had peeling paint, etc. may be correct but come on. You're in Providence. This isn't Manhattan, or the Hamptons. It's a little rough around the edges and I thought that was part of the charm. The building is historic and the location was amazing. The outside noise didn't bother us one bit, but let's just say the walls are paper thinlol. I'd take a half star off because the rate for the weekend was super high.
