Papa Giuseppes

I have heard amazing reviews from friends and family for a long time. Finally I had a chance to experience “Papa G’s”. The restaurant doesn’t do reservations, so I decided to try my luck with a walk in. My wife and I showed up just after 1pm. I was greeted immediately by a fantastic gentleman who introduced himself as “Giovanni” (Johnny for the cake’s among us). He sat us down and effortlessly walked us through the menu. There are many options but we quickly decided on some of his recommendations. He said he was going to create us his famous “rocket” pizza, I was blown away when he actually walked behind the counter and hand made us his own specialty pizza named “the rocket”. It was to die for! We also had the casalinga board to start with a glass of red. (Highly recommended) If you have the opportunity to be served by Johnny it will be a one of a kind a experience. Have been a few times and experience had always been great. My last visit was disappointing as our server was inattentive and extremely slow. I could see the food ready and sitting there getting cold because he couldn't be bothered to bring it to the table. Took my plate away to pack the remainder of the pizza and didn't come back for a long time, while he wandered back and forth. I could see my plate just sitting there because he had clearly forgotten about it. Asked for my bill and it was another long wait. It was especially noticeable because the other tables around us had wonderful servers who were pleasant and on top of everything... It would have been one thing if it was because he was busy serving other tables but I could see he was either chatting with other people or going to the front to keep taking sips of whatever he was drinking out of the fridge. It was not at all enjoyable experience.

This restaurant has a line up on Friday and Saturday nights. Many Italian dishes to choose from. I like the Smoked Duck and also Lamb chef's special when available. The main dining room, has an intimate feel. Not much room to move around. Open kitchen concept works well. In the winter the patio is heated and blankets are provided if customers are feeling chilly.

Best place to eat in Port Credit if you ask us. Perfect for a date or close friends. Food is beyond amazing, never disappoints. Service is usually 10/10, though we gave had the odd off server. Highly recommend not skipping the Tiramisu for dessert.

The staff at Papa G make me feel like family. Big smiles and good vibes. Cozy restaurant and amazing pizzas. They do not mess around here. This pie is the real! Papa G is the king of Port Credit!
