I really liked our appetizers and my ramen bowl here. Had to dock a point because the vegetarian ramen which is supposedly one of the best veggie ramen options in the city was a bit too busy a lot of vegetables and flavors going on. If you’re looking for traditional ramen fare, definitely hit them up. Delicious!
Hot bowl of rich noodle soup is always welcome in the dead of winter! Casual intimate space, fast & friendly service. Spicy garlic shoyumen: deliciously deep broth with delightfully chewy wavy noodles & house-made hakata noodles. Just the right amount of spicy kick. So much broth leftover I ordered another side of noodles to go, excited to have it again the next day!
I have tried a good amount of the top rated ramen places in Chicago and this might be one of my favorites. We tried two of the buns, the tonkatsu and the mashed; both were incredible delicious and messy More importantly, the ramen was absolutely amazing! We tried #3 Paitan Shio w/ garlic oil and the #4 Spicy Garlic Shoyumen, one with the thick and wavy noodles and one with the Hakata noodles. The #3 had a perfectly savory and fatty broth but not in way that would make you feel greasy. The Berkshire pork belly melts in your mouth, the fat was rendered perfectly and the meat was seared to perfection. The spicy broth is not going to hurt you, it's a nice level of spice that is very flavourful!
A must try ramen spot in the heart of Wicker Park Chicago! Minimalist design, with strong wooden accents, and small like other authentic Japanese ramen joints. Definitely different than my other favorite ramen spots, including the noodles. Walked in at a perfect time, 545pm on a cold Saturday. Shortly after, a ton of people came trickling in and had to wait. I do not think this place has reservations. Pictured here are the Sake Caliente aka Hot Sake, Buns: Goki highly recommend! and 6hrs Pork Shoulder - all come with more ingredients than the bun! - and had the Umami Ramen which was a Spicy Level 2 and had more room for spicyness. Can't wait for the next visit.
Favorite ramen spot in Chicago! First time coming here and it was great! Our food came out very fast, everything was hot and tasty. The prok belly is so tender you don't need teeth to eat it, just falls apart in your mouth. I had the spicy garlic dish and it was the perfect amount of spice.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: NoTakeout: Yes
Really enjoyed our warm bowls of ramen on this windy spring day in Chicago. We popped in last minute before visiting some nearby shops and were enormously pleased with the quality of food and service.
Went here with friends and had a lovely dinner. We definitely ate too much but we wanted to try so many things! There was a large variety of Ramen styles to choose from maybe a bit too many, deciding was hard but our server was very helpful in making a decision. We got three buns as appetizers and they were very filling but delicious. I got the garlic shoyu ramen and really enjoyed it! Delicious food overall. The restaurant is quite small and the atmosphere is nice but the chairs are a bit uncomfortable. We were fine overall but something to take into consideration.
Dropped in for lunch while meeting up with a friend i haven't seen in years. The atmosphere was casual/ lax with great lighting for the time of day. The staff was attentive to our needs and very upbeat and cheerful. We each order ramen and beers to go with our meals. The food was great and very tender. The broth was full of flavor that has a nice spice to it.
Unique ramen. The broth was fantastic and every bite had a different blast of flavor. The porkbelly was filling, and the duck bread was welcoming. Well done
RAMEN WITH A TWIST . My friend told me this spot was pretty good, so we came here for a try while we were in the area Fyi parking was pretty easy just outside with meters. Everything has a modern twist to it , combining latin american flavors eg jalapeno, cotija, cilantro/tomato/onion etc. Or you can order classics too Got the #4 spicy garlic shoyumen - really garlicy and subtley sweet and #11 the pozolmen - great cilantro flavors, and you can squeeze the line at the end to change the profile Biggest highlight was the pork belly omg. Literally MELTS IN YOUR MOUTH. Braised for hours and hours, I could eat this all day long For apps, we got a pork shoulder bao. Made 6hrs on the stove, came with cotija, crisp onion. Pretty good and would love to try others Overall a bit more expensive than other ramen spots in Chicago. All three things came up to about $60 including tip. Would love to come back as their menu changes seasonally! @midwestmunching for more
