Kapitan

We drive by this restaurant all the time not realizing it was even a restaurant as the location has historically been a bar. A neighbor recommended it and we're usually skeptical to try new places, but this did not disappoint! We ordered the Lobak fried pork to start and that was very flavorful. We ordered 3 entrees to share between two of us for variety - the Nyonya Curry Laksa Lemak, Mee Goreng, and the Soft Shell Crab Fried Rice. It was all good, but the SoftShell Crab Fried Rice stood out the most for us. It was not your typical salty soy sauce fried rice. In addition to the soft shell crab, there was crab meat mixed into the fried rice. Would definitely recommend this place. We'll be back with friends to try more of the menu.

Good Malaysian food. Eveything we ordered were really very nice. Crab fried rice was the best.. Must try. It was a very slow weekday, so hardly anyone was there at the restaurant.Food: 5/5

We loved our nasi lemak rendang lamb and nasi lemak curry chicken kapitan. The satay is absolutely delicious! Teh Tarik to finish off lovely meal. Will be back when back in Chicago! So happy to hear that they ship out! Going to place an order for family back in Tennessee. Sorry we started to eat before I took the pictures. Smell was too yummy..

The food is good. I recommend the Nasi Lemuk with your own preference of meat along with fish balls. I selected shrimp with the Nasi Lemuk. Nasi means rice in South East Asia. You can get a side of Sambal green chili though I must warn that it is rather spicy. John and Mercy provided good service to their guests.

This is a hidden gem! Food was so flavorful and amazing! The tomato rice platter was delicious and the duck buns were fantastic! Our server Michael gave awesome service as well.Food: 5/5

We came in for early dinner on Tuesday. Staff was very friendly and attentive. The standout dishes for us were the Murtabak and the Beef Rendang and tomato rice of the combo plate. Room for improvement on some dishes as the chili shrimp arrived cold and the hainanese chicken rice balls were difficult to eat.

We were here for dinner. Food was very decent. We liked the Nasi Lemak- Kapilan Chicken. Rojak merah was ok. Nyonya curry seafood - gravy was awesome. We did not get much of fish and shrimp being with shell was little bit tough on a curry esp it is pricy Drinks were fine esp roof of the loom. Drinks were custom made and little bit pricy Lemon grass ginger martini

Kapitan has amazing Malaysian food! I was looking for somewhere that served Kway Teow so I’m really glad to have found Kapitan. The Laksa, dessert and cocktails were all delicious too. The first time I came to Kapitan, I went by myself and had a wonderful conversation with my server. She let me know about a Lion Dance event, so I came back with a few friends and we all enjoyed the food and entertainment.

O'zien fry oysters and their other little side dishes I've had there are probably the best Malaysian food I've had anywhere in the country. Either you are craving for some Malay food or trying something new, this IS the place to try. Must try the Mamyee Pork Belly!
