Reviews
It’s taken me a lot of back and forth to write my review as I have been a long time patient of this clinic 10+ years. I was previously under the care of Dr Fernando who was amazing but he left the practice several years ago. Since then my family and I have been under care of Dr Tam. My experiences with him were good for the most part, until dealing with some new physical health needs.nnDr Tam has been working with me through the last year and my experience for the most part was positive. However, I had a new physical health diagnosis which answered a lot of my questions regarding some long term symptoms. However, when I went to review the tests results my symptoms were brushed off and I was told by Dr Tam that “no specialist would see me” despite confirmation of the diagnosis and I was told he would “monitor” the concern for me. No other options or treatment was offered. I was very upset and defeated by his response as this did not address my symptoms and I made very clear to him. His response to me was to find another doctor if I did not trust him. He made it clear he was very annoyed by the fact that I was not accepting his treatment plan and I was asking for a referral to a specialist. He eventually did the referral very hesitantly but did not send it to the required specialist. This interaction and his ongoing dismissive attitude regarding my physical health concerns left me with a very negative experience and I no longer felt comfortable being his patient. I should note that this is not the first time I personally experience this kind of behavior from Dr Tam and other family members have experienced the same at times they also left the practice.nnI found a new doctor within weeks who IMMEDIATELY referred me to the required specialists regarding my new diagnosis. He validated my concerns regarding Dr Tam’s dismissive behavior regarding the diagnosis and explained the various treatment plans we could explore in consultation with a specialist. I felt heard, validated, and all my other medical needs that Dr Tam dismissed were addressed all in one appointment. 4 weeks later I have already been contacted by the appropriate specialist to follow up which would not have taken place if I accepted Dr Tam's dismissive attitude.nnI write this review in hopes that Dr Tam really considers his approach with his patients. I personally consider myself someone who is strong in advocating for myself; however, I struggle to think of all the patients who accept his dismissive approach, impacting their health. I appreciate that he is a very experienced doctor; but his demonstrated arrogance is unprofessional and not beneficial to his patients. He seems to feel the need to “gate keep” patients from tests, specialist referrals, and certain medications vs being concerned about their well being.nnAside of my negative interactions with Dr Tam, I am very sad to leave the clinic as the other staff have all been very wonderful to deal with. Overall, the clinic is managed very well and I always had very positive experiences with the front desk staff and nurses.
Visited with a sick child. Reception staff very friendly and accommodating. Waiting area was clean and had toys/books for use. Dr Wong was very attentive and personable. Very good bedside manner. Gave advice and a pre emotive prescription in case symptoms worsen.
Front reception is good. But I saw Doctor Mark Wong today about a serious ear infection previously saw Dr Tam and he prescribed medicated ear dropsnDr Wong was rude & ignorant in not listening to my explanation of the many attempts to find a solution that could heal my ear cut me off, then prescribed the Same drops that didn't work before. Then arrogant as hell telling me I could go to an ER wait 8 hours to have another doctor tell you the same thing!?!? Are you for real?nHow absolutely INCOMPETENT this doctor is.nDo not see Dr Wong at this clinic!!!
Dr Tam has been my Doctor since I was pregnant in 2008 - no other doctor would accept an on-boarding at this critical time in life. I called in tears of desperation to have prenatal care and he took me in with arms wide open. I have, like many gone through the many highs and lows, sicknesses, surgeries - you name it, and he’s always been kind, knowledgeable, conservative and appropriate in his discussions and treatment. An amazing sounding board for health inquires for me and my entire family. Now more than ever, I have leaned on Dr. Tam for his professional wisdom and he’s given above and beyond when patience was needed. I’m so grateful for his devotion to his family practice and the wonderful team in place over the years of evolution.nThank you for helping us all navigate life and giving so much of your time, passion and dedication to all that need a family physician like you.
Incompetent doctors! I was suffering for two days, had a very bad sore throat, pain swallowing, body ache like fever & no cough. Dr Tam Chris took the swab for strep infection, sent it to lab and told me just keep taking Advil and said it’s nothing & should go away in few days.nLater that day I spoke to a friend pharmacist who advised it’s an infection and doctor should have given me antibiotics.nn3 days later Dr Tam Chris received the lab results confirming my infection and called me to prescribe me antibiotics. I was so angry at this doctor because I suffered for 5 days badly until this incompetent doctor prescribed me antibiotics when I started to get better.nnAttached is a simple checklist from the pharmacist to prescribe antibiotics.nnNew Brighton medical centre probably overcharged Alberta health for my walk-in, lab test and then a callback service. They’re making money rather than looking after the patients.
