Moore's Your Independent Grocer Scarborough

I use to go to this grocery store in high school, about 10 years ago. Just like back then, the profiling is still the same. I’m not sure if it’s because I look like a “student” or i’m a minority, but I went to self checkout and got chicken strips and a pack of water. When I was leaving, an older caucasian lady asked me “did you remember to scan the water? Sometimes the water does not scan right”. I felt targeted for no reason at all, I was just minding my own business. I know what she said was bs because regardless if the water does not scan “right” that’s a store error not a customer error. She just wanted to see my receipt to make sure I wasn’t stealing the case of water. It sucks to know that nothing has changed at this store within 10 years.

Staff would rather fight and argue on how to train new staff at the cash … instead of cashing people out that are waiting in line … one of the older staff members literally had to tell them to stop…nThen said staff member tried to argue with her to . So unprofessional…

The prices can sometimes be a little steep but overall this small community store and I like to support them. However tonight while I was checking out my $200 order the cashier at the first register was not helping to bag products purchased. This is 6:15 pm. She proceeded to literally cram everyone through one right after the other. This is not NO FRILLS. Your registers are not set up in this manner plus they are short when large order are being processed through. This is customer service at its worst. I still like this store and normally the people that have been there for some time are very efficient. The newer ones are not learning the process. A suggestion would be to have them learn properly from the seasoned employees. Clearly they don’t know to do this themselves.

I was just subjected to some horrible discrimination at this location.nThe non-racialized manager proceeded to tell me I am wrong, and condescendingly explain discrimination to a racialized person!nNot only was an apology not offered, more staff appeared berating me with the 16 non-racialized staff member getting offensively rudennI WILL BE SEEKING FURTHER ACTION AND EXPLANATION on the practices at this location

Smells very good upon entrynNice little neat spot with lots of variety and also.
