Montecassino Hotel and Event Centre

First time here and I’m really impressed! Great haircut, very smart and modern place. I loved the mirror with LED lights behind the chair – you can see your haircut from all angles. Also enjoyed a nice drink while getting my haircut. Highly recommend!

Nice people at the check in, no issues with the workers, but I'm convinced the reviews giving it 5 stars are all fake. I don't think it's a 1 star but needs this level of rating to balance the fake 5 star reviews. Room is run down, furniture damaged, wobbly or non existent suite, bathroom looked updated and was clean but the layout, security and vibe of this place is one where I would not return or bring children. Main floor is open to the public and there is no access control to the floors throughout the building with the 2nd flr being check in, so people roaming and wandering outside can make their way to your floor and never speak to staff. The hallway is filled with noise where I could hear things occurring 6 rooms away. No food on site, not very walkable to anything in the evening food wise.nnI think if an event is occurring and you are here for 1 night, might not be that bad but as a stand alone hotel and being there a few days, reconsider. It was the cheapest in the area and reviews made it seem like it was turning itself around, but I was shocked in the end and would spend the extra $ elsewhere.

I've stayed here before in previous years and was really hoping for a good stay.nnUpon arrival on Sunday night, I was greeted by a large battalion of Toronto police and security.nApparently there was an event in their ballroom that could easily have gotten out of control requiring lots of security.nThe noise from the event went on all night and disrupted the sleep for many customers in the hotel.nWhen the front desk staff was asked about it, they said that they do not take rentals into consideration when assuring the guests that the rooms will be quiet.nApparently this is a very common complaint amongst the guests.nnWorking our way through the unruly crowd, we ended up with a room on the top floor to keep away from the noise.nHowever, the room next to us on the fifth floor had another huge party going on in it and it was impossible to sleep.nHotel security came to try to get them to leave but they weren't having it.nWe ended up leaving the 5th floor going to the 4th floor just to get some sleep.nnThe quality of the rooms has gone downhill significantly.nDo you like having light in your room hallway?nIf so, make sure to bring your own lamps and flashlights. The lighting provided by the two lamps is not sufficient by any means.nDo you like to have a comfortable bed to rest up from your journey?nThen make sure to bring your own mattress.nThe tiny double bed provided in the executive studio must have not been replaced in 20 years.nYou wake up feeling beaten up.nDo you like having an unobtrusive quiet HVAC system for heating or cooling?nThen you will not like the loud fan that goes on every 10 minutes in the bedroom.nnThe front desk night person was understanding and sympathetic to my complaints but said he cannot do anything and I should refer to the manager.nIt's very clear that management prioritizes the rentals and parties that are disruptive to the regular paying guests.nnI'll be asking for a full refund for this 'stay'.nDo yourself a favor and avoid this location.nThe hotel part is secondary to the rental for disruptive parties. I should have read the reviews before reserving.

They charge you upfront and if you need to cancel, they will give others your room but you won't get the money back unless you go through your card company! They can make millions with just one room! A scam hotel. Probably run by the mafia! Law says that you have 48th hours and I canceled after 12! Hotel was booked 4 months in advance!

Edit. FEB 21st, 2025.nI spoke with the hotel manager, Daniel E. del Carpio on Friday, Feb 21st, 2025. Mr Del Carpio was very apologetic for the circumstances. He mentioned that sometimes djs/band play too loud and did recognize that the base that night was too loud. He offered us an option which we will gladly accept. So I retract my statement. Im always willing to give business and individuals second chances and forgiving situations. I always believe it's how people handle a situation that makes them great leaders or individuals. Looking forward to our next stay.nn*********************nnDon't bother staying here, they care more about their party guests.nnIf there is a party booked in either ballroom, you will not sleep. We arrived at 5pm. Checked into our 404, and went out for supper, noticed people smoking inside the side entrances front desk said they cant do anything. Upon our return, we walked into the front entrance and the music was so loud the bass was making the pictures and other things shake on the wall. The night attendant reassured me that we wouldn't be bothered. Not sure how he figured since our room was adjacent to the ballroom. Was patient until midnight. The guest registration says all noise levels should be kept to a minimum after 11pm. Well they can't keep to their own policy. I phoned front desk to complain and was told security was gone to advise to trun down music. This kept going until 1am even after I called again.nYou can see from the pic that the ballroom is next door. Room was clean but very basic and dated. No fridge so our snacks and left over food was trashed.nnAlso the little pillows on the bed are useless. You'll need an appointment with Chiropractor... no extra blankets.nnDon't bother asking for a refund the young man in the morning said they won't do anything, so don't bother staying here for a good night sleep, will not return unless they make it right.
