Ministry of Transportation Downsview

I'm pretty sure their phone service leads nowhere. Have tried calling multiple times at different times of the day and can never reach anyone no mater how long I wait.

The phone service is the worst I have ever seen. I have to call MTO for business reasons frequently and dread the idea. Mr. Trudeau please get off your but and fix this. Call the number and are greeted every time with a message that states they are receiving a higher call volume than usual. The call volume is constant MTO that statement is a total farce. Never once have i had to wait less than 10 minutes. No where does it give you the option to speak to an attendant. Yes if you press "Zero" you can get to one. But shouldn't the option be listed. Canada is very multicultural. Because of this someone new to the country may not even realize the option is there.

Did my G2 exit test on March 9, at 8:45 am. I got there around 8:25 am, the rep at the desk was very professional. I gave her my DL, and she asked questions to verify that it was me. Told her type of car using for the test and the parking spot I was parked in. She told me to go wait in the car for an examiner. My examiner was also very professional, introduced himself (name started with an F, I was too nervous to remember). Did the routine check of the car then came and sat beside me. Even though I am very confident in my ability as a driver I was very very nervous, i asked him if I could asked him a question for clarification re the new law on crosswalks and pedestrians. He willingly clarified and even asked if I have anymore questions. He then told me that he will be giving me instructions and if I'm not sure must ask him to repeat. He said when I'm ready to let him know....we were off.... I drove the route to get familiar so I was very comfortable, but silently prayed that I would not come across someone/thing that would cause a fail. From the centre I turned right unto Wilson, then right on the Allen then 401 W exit the Keele exit. Went on a side street where I did emergency stop and 3 point turn. Drove back to the centre where he instructed me to reverse park. He then said Congratulations you passed and I should go inside to the help desk. ( I did the happy dance inside and told him thank you.) All in all try to stay calm and focus, it cannot be said enough to check your mirrors and blind spots. ( I checked mirrors every 10 seconds, even when not needed, just to make sure examiner sees I'm aware and in control of the car) Scan all intersections even when have right of way.Make sure to stop completely without rolling and adhere to the speed limits set. Also, keep safe distance between car in front of you. Good Luck to you all and PRACTICE!!!

This place has idiots for driving testers. My wife had a test today and rather than letting the driver feel safe and proceed the tester was too much in a rush and pushed her to do the wrong thing. What they are good at is being misrable and stressing out the driver while they take the test. If you have a brain, avoid this place.

The people that work at the ministry are useless, all they do I refer you to another "representative". No one can give you as straight answer, how does the government hire such inexperienced and unmotivated people. It seems like this Harper government has a telephone line forwarded straight to India because 70% of these representatives do not speak English and very difficult to understand. I'm just grateful that my situation only lasted 7 months, (it should have been 6) and not a year or more. I can imagine your pain people. MTO representatives do some work for once and don't be a government worker stereotype.
