JVS Toronto - Employment Source Toronto North

In the beginning JVS promised so much. They were smiley, the counsellor said that she has a lot of connections in my field. For months they advised on cold calling. But they did not connect me to anyone in my field, science. All the workshops were same as one another. The only workshop that I actually benefited was the first workshop I attended. When I said my counsellor that I am losing hope because I do not even get any interviews, she just gave me false hopes and told to be patient. At the end, to be able to pay my rent, I went to a recruiter company; I found a job at an underemployed position. All in all, my time at JVS was the definition of wasted time. I think Government of Ontario should reassess these employment agencies' effectivity and stop funding ineffective ones. JVS is not effective at all.

this is the worst employment agency I have ever been. Go to ymca job services which is nearby and stop wasting time here. Shirley the job counseller who was handling my case didn't even bother to ask me any questions and was not professional . She was just not interested at all.I don't know how people as dumb as her are getting jobs as employment counselor. when I went to the manager a Chinese lady (forgot her name) and said I want a counselor change she spoke with me for an hour and tried to convince me to keep the same job counselor.They should just close an agency like this and stop public funding on all these agencies. the best thing to happen after all this is I went to YMCA job Centre and they helped me with everything I asked for. Bottom line: stop wasting your time here and go to YMCA which is close by. They are much better and professional.

If you have the right personality and the right approach, they can help you get something great. Dont expect them to do all the work. In the end its all up to you. But they can help you find a great job in a number of ways. They helped me find something good a few years ago when I was in transition.... Some of the staff are just bodies collecting a paycheck which is sad. Their attitude is unpleasant and so is their demeanor. But if you realize, that this is a temporary situation for you until you get what you need, you can have a pleasant experience no matter what.

If you do not belong to Jewish community, do not waist you time, do not go there. You will be treated as dirt. Do not believe their motto that their service is for all. It is a big fat lie.
