MEC North York

Visited for the first time in a very long time… Nice large store location with parking out front and side. Nice that they offer free clinics, details on a blackboard near the main entrance.nnLower floor had bikes, camping gear, swimming, etc. Second floor was shoes, clothes, back packs, etcnnFully stocked store, clean and well merchandised. Regular prices seem on the high side.. lots on clearance.nnI passed by at least 8 staff and no one bothered to say Hi or asked whether I needed help…nnStore had only a handful of customers, hardly any business for a Saturday 2pm visit.nnCheck my pics of a close to empty store.

I always come to the store for sporting goods and I always impressed with the friendly and kind customer service. I had some issues with some Hoka shoes that I purchased and they were within warranty and the mountain co-op on Shepherd looked after me as usual Thank you payman and staff

Love this place! So hard not to walk the through the whole store. The staff on the ground floor is so much more helpful and friendly than the staff upstairs...this was the first time having a not so pleasant customer service experience.nThankfully the older gentleman working in the bicycle section & the female stacking the shelves were personable Joanna I believe her name was.nGreat layout of the store and easy to find items, love the flashlight and knives section. Walking through the camping section is always a must to see the new gadgets and compact items for camping, traveling or whatever your needs may be.

My husband and I just purchase two Cannondale e-bikes from Steven at MEC, North York. He was amazing to work with. So knowledgeable about the product and fitting and even best practices for transportation, maintenance and storage. Steven is so informed, passionate, helpful and friendly. He gave us full confidence in this expensive investment. It's also comforting to know that MEC will adjust the bike for free for the first year so that we can get the optimal fit, comfort and enjoyment. Steven even stayed 30 minutes past the end of his shift in order to send us off as comfortably and informed as possible. We had our first, longer ride to the Leslie St. spit yesterday and we love the bikes! Thanks Steven!

Customer service has gradually been decreasing. Today was the second time I was shopping for shoes for my 5 year old daughter where today's visit mirrored the last one, where there was no one visibly around to help with selection. It took several minutes to find someone and when I did find them, it was like they didn't want to be there. No questions to ask what type of shoe I was looking for, comfort level, fit, price range, colours, etc. One and done - once the sizes were given and the product provided for my daughter to test and wear, the person was nowhere to be found because it was too big. It took me 20 minutes to get there, 10 min to wait for someone, then 5 minute for me to finally find someone today. 30 minutes wasted for not getting what I needed. Then when I went to the cashier after I ended up picking something only because I didn't want to leave empty handed, I asked if I could leave a complaint. The woman looked at me completely not understanding and she had to speak in Farsi to a colleague because she didn't speak English very well! Why someone who doesn't understand English in a frontline role is just a sign of how poorly managed and organized it is. I can understand why the store is consistently empty. What a sloppy mess.
