Canadian Tire

Do NOT trust anything the auto service salespeople tell you. They are incompetent and only there to sell and rip you off. I've had bad experiences at other Canadian tire auto centres before but this winter I urgently needed my tires changed and couldn't get an appointment anywhere else and given that this store is walking distance from me I gave them another chance. I specifically said I only wanted my tires changed and an oil change and I didn't want anything else checked and wouldn't have any other work done that day because I had my own mechanic. Still they convinced me to also add a tire alignment package which I figured wouldn't hurt. I left my car and an hour later I got a call from the salesperson saying they did a free check-up (even though I've asked them not to) and they found a bunch of things wrong with my car and he listed all these expensive things I needed to have done. (I was having no issues with the car). Among the things he listed was that the battery was functioning very poorly and that one of the lights was burned. I repeated that I didn't want anything else done that day but asked how much changing the light would cost (since that's usually cheap and important to fix right away). He said the bulb is $6.95 but the labour would be $80. I declined the work and took it somewhere else later. At the other place I was told everything was fine (except for needing new brake pads which I already knew). I was shocked and asked them to recheck the battery and the lights since checking those is objective testing and it doesn't make any sense that two different people would find different results. They double checked and said all the lights are working fine and they gave me a print put for the battery that said "very good". I wonder if the Canadian Tire store simply tells everyone they need a light change and a new battery since those are common things and you usually are too afraid not to take their advice. This is the second time this has happenend to me at Canadian tire. There is simply zero honesty in their work. They are obviously extremely pressured to sell.

Great location and good selection. Probably my favorite to go to in the city. Ttc nearby. However the staff can be hard to find and not very friendly. Cashiers are usually nice though

I have had a horrendous experience at the location of close to sheppard and mccowan. Not this location. Everything went well. They have an organized store, with auto down stairs and everything else upstairs. They have lots of sales going on all the time. The cash out line was quick and the staff were very helpful with providing the right direction since i had a specific list of items i needed. I would recommend.

Received great service here over the years. Currently was assisted by a staff member who was extremely knowledgeable. Which I find is pretty hard to find in these super store places.
