It's never easy dealing with the passing of your father and the impact it has on the entire family and the many friends and relatives. Through one of our most difficult times, Ryan and his team did an incredible job of leading us through the maze of issues along with ensuring that we honoured my father and our family in just the right manner. Thank you for making the arrangements seem so effortless and guiding us in this very difficult time. Your care and grace will always be remembered. Best, Sid
No one plans for the tragedy of the passing of their 23 year old son. When this happened to us my brother took over the research of cremation, funeral homes and options. I had suggested Kearney's because it is close, in New West and family owned. My brother called and spoke to numerous places for comparison. What he found was many large American owned companies and few local family owned businesses. He was so impressed with Kearney's approach, prices and mostly that the concern for your grief and loved one presided over all else. Our whole family has so appreciated the patient, graceful guidance from Funeral Director Chris Bradshaw. Chris asked what we wanted and then guided us through cremation, venues, urns and all the legal logistics too. Never did I feel pressured to buy anything or use any service. Chris followed our every wish...including sending our son off with many memorables that his friends and family wanted cremated with him. He even made sure that his photo that I provided was attached to to top of the casket so that staff knew the face along with the name of our son. You can't change the situation when a loved one passes, but you can make it somewhat more tolerable by surrounding yourself with people that understand.
I can't say enough about Casey and the rest of the staff at New Westminster. The degree of professionalism, depth of caring and engaging in the stories that my mom told about my dad, suggested services without being pushy, organization of steps that needed to be taken right away, then the days/weeks following up to the memorial service, flexibility with changes, follow-up calls, etc. All this during Covid! There were some A/V issues that were sorted out by the time the service started so all good. Thanks Casey and staff for all of your caring during this difficult time.
They took care of my partner's stepmother's cremation but my partner was in town for 7 days and they couldn't promise they would have the cremation done by then. I am a crematorium operator at one of the busiest crematoriums in Ontario and we don't take longer than 4 days to do a cremation and get it back to the funeral home. I'm not sure why they couldn't expedite this, but I was disappointed in them for not trying. Besides that, I guess they were fine.
I lost my older brother suddenly earlier during the summer, he was 28. I'm only 24, so you can imagine I had no clue where to begin planning his funeral as it was not just the most difficult time of my life, but I really didn't know where to start. So I drove around Vancouver, walking into different funeral homes, all the directors cared more about costs, and assumed I wasn't able to afford their services. The resoning, I'm not sure, maybe because of my age?None of them really guided me through my options and I felt completely lost. My bestfriend recommended me to go to Kearney's in New West. Once I walked in, there was this feeling of comfort and peace. I asked the receptionist if I could speak with someone for a consultation, right away she directed me to Mike. He was so experienced and graciously walked me through the funeral process and discussed in detail what my options were. Not to mention the prices were more affordable. I knew once I left this place was perfect. I called back a few days later and was directed to Steven Colon, another director. The receptionist asked if that was alright to switch directors, I knew it wouldn't be an issue because it just seemed all the staff were great. And I was right! Steven again is very experienced, and he was very patient and never made me feel uncomfortable or rushed into making any decisions. Even though hes been in the business for 20 + years he has such a kind heart and very compassionate. He truly guided me and was by my side from the beginning from making decisions to the end of the service. I went to 3 different places in Vancouver, not only were the prices quite high, but the staff didn't seem to care much of the situation I was going through. I would recommend Kearney's in a heartbeat!
I saw all the stars on Google, and thought it would be a good place to call, since my father didn't leave explicit instructions upon his death. I'm so glad I did. Sherry was beyond amazing, and answered every question my aunt and I had, and answered them over again when my mind could not focus. She was gentle and kind, and showed incredible empathy. I did not feel pressured in any way and the costs, as far as I can tell, are more reasonable. For my first experience dealing with this kind of thing, they made it as painless as possible. I recommend this funeral home for anyone that, like me, has no idea where to start, because they will help you every step of the way. Thank you Sherry, for all your help, you are wonderful!
I cannot say enough about Mike Crean and the team at Kearney's. I lost my wife and 6 month year old daughter in an accident some time ago. I was traumatized, confused and numb; however, I felt supported and cared for by the Kearney team. They were able to anticipate and handle all the details during a time I was unable to. Kudos to all the Kearneys Columbia-Bowell Team.
I went to several funeral homes after the death of my mother. Kearney's was the most willing to work with you at all aspects. I couldn't find a better place at such a distressful time.
I was very happy with the level of care and the price from this funeral home after my mother passed.
