My review is for the badminton facility only. The courts are small, congested, and slippery with nonmarking shoes. But can't complaint with the free services.
This centre has great facilities for kids. My child enjoys the programming here. The washrooms and change rooms are in need of some major revitalization though.
Currently homeless temporarily I was aloud to shower with comfort and ease
Adult Badminton drop-in sessions: Players: Consistently good/advancd players but still mostly novice to intermediate. Courts: Great EXCEPT overhanging track n nets in the way of the back line. Fun bunch. Kings Court in effect. Parking is goooold lol. Tight n limited.
One of the oldest swimming pools in Toronto complemented by a woodworking room, a pool table, weights room and gym. A lot of shady characters around and if you don't lock your bike properly, it will get stolen. Despite staff efforts, some amenities are not as well maintained as one would expect and there is no WiFi for customers.
Free gym. Amazing service for the community. Seriously call them very adequate gym for free. You will definitely get your money's worth here!
I had many wonderful experiences here as a child from 1964 to 1968... swimming lessons, baseball games, tap dance lessons, skating, arts and crafts and it was free and all within walking distance. It was a safe place for a child to have fun and learn new skills which have remained with me throughout my life. Thank you John Innes Community Centre. Staff were kind and friendly to me always. I am pleased it still stands for new generations of people to benefit from the opportunities!
The staff here put in the minimum level of effort possible. Will happily close up earlyand cut you off to do it Never clean/sweep the gym floors. They sit in their office watching TV. In years of coming here that's all I've ever seen them do. Location in the city is a little suspect, but that is not the fault of the center/staff itself.
Not so clean facilities comparing to other community centres like Jimmy Simpson’s. Pool is cramped where you would feel shortage of air and very dark. Pool walls are open for repair which didn’t happen in a long while so you could see the rusted nails popping out. But, decent instructors and it’s one of those centres which offers free courses!!
We live in the neighbourhood and my family often use the community centre. They have very nice programs and activities, and all the instructors are professional and staff are very helpful. We never had negative experiences regarding the centre's facilities, and we feel lucky to have a community centre so close within reach.
