An exceptional building with neo-gothic architecture. Today it's part of University of Toronto and is home to an impressive theatre, gymnasium, student activity centre, Library and the great hall to name a few. Reasons to visit Hart House: 1 To learn impressive history of the building 2 Have lunch at the great hall during 5 buck lunches 3 Join various activities like chess/ crafts etc at the Hart House 4 Study at the cozy library 5 To admire the architecture/ gardens at the building
A historic venue that works for weddings. I had the pleasure of photographing a couple of weddings here in 2022. I would recommend booking a spring or fall wedding so it does not get too hot inside. There is no AC so it does get pretty sweaty on hot summer days but they do offer cold drinks and massive fans at the reception area. The ceremony can be done outdoors or indoors in the chapel area so there is backup in case of rain. I did notice there is also a tented area outdoors in the courtyard for cocktail hour. The bridal suite is upstairs with a portable AC unit. Parking was a little trickier this year due to the construction but was able to find reasonable priced parking 5 mins away. The venue itself is great for wedding photos. Just google Hart House weddings to get some ideas or consult with your photographer for some suggestions.
One of the most gorgeous looking buildings at U of T St. George campus with several halls and dining areas for students and guests.
One of the the finest examples of Beaux Arts Gothic Revival in Canada. Hart House was one of the earliest, and still is one of the most beautiful, student centres in the world.
Beautiful designed building inside and out. One of the University's amazing wonders. Hart House Theatre is a 454-seat theatre in Toronto, Ontario located on the campus of the University of Toronto in the Hart House Student Centre. Hart House Theatre has been the University of Toronto Performing Arts Leader Since 1919. The Theatre serves the University and the Toronto Community at large
Amazing space with academic and historical value !
Best place in all of UofT. Grab a bite, hang out, appreciate art, workout at the gym, take a swim, host a major event, this place has it all! Also one of the best-looking buildings + Soldier's Tower on campus.
A real gem of a retreat for students and community on the beautiful University of Toronto campus. For over a hundred years this building and complex has provided generations of people ample fun, memories and places to hideaway, whether it’s using the gym, reading quietly in the Great Hall or one of the many Lou get or rustic rooms, using the chapel, restaurant, theatre, garden etc. There is something here for everyone, either a chance to escape, a place to be seen, or try something new thanks to the ample student societies and community gatherings that make the Hart House their home.
Feels very much like you’re walking into a set of Harry Potter. The grounds are kept in good condition and the building is wheelchair accessible. They are also currently working on an updated wheelchair ramp on the front of the building. Great to see that happening. The washrooms are very outdated and not kept in the best condition. Just an FYI. Also many restrictions if you are looking to host an event here. This is understandable because it is a school space first but something to take into consideration before you make the hassle of commuting outside the GTA. Staff are also friendly and helpful. I would defiantly be back for a nice stroll through the grounds or to have a nice cup of tea.
Great looking building, main hall was filled with tons of things to check out, read, consider and place in context of history. Found a small library on the top floor with age old books and magazines from 1890s, photos from that are attached. Was there for a night of ideas event with a few interesting speakers. Would go again because there were certainly things I missed.
