Japan Sushi

Ordered san francisco roll, bc roll, futo maki, toro nigiri, and unagi nigiri. San francisco roll was so flavorful! The food was fresh and yummy. Great portion with reasonable price. Highly recommend!

We entered the door and no one was out to greet us. We waited until the chief behind the bar looked at us, and he waved his hands towards the seat beside us. We waited for another 5 mins until a server came to give us the menu. The table was not cleaned properly, there were still sticky sauce traces. We ordered, and waited for almost 30 mins for the food to come up. The tako sushi was hard and chewy, dry and tasteless. Other than, the sushi rolls were ok, the tempuras were good. And the entrance door, every time someone comes in or go out, the door closed so loudly, not just loud, but like the surrounding was shaking. Not pleasant for seating near the entrance. Won't come back again. Ok food, but definitely disappointing service.

Sushi was okay. Not bad for the Walnut Grove area. We ordered the San Francisco roll ×2, prawn tempura, a negitoro roll, salmon nigiri and hokki nigiri. Prawn tempura was missing the dipping sauce, which really makes the dish lose a lot of flavor. The sushi rice seemed a bit off - a little on the hard side. The salmon nigiri was a little wet, like when you defrost something and it has a lot of moisture. The San Fran roll was flavorful and filling. Overall, I'm on the fence with this place. I may try it again in the future to see if today was an off day.

Most important thing for a delicious sushi is the rice. If it is not seasoned with the proper seasonings it will taste like how sushi taste when you make it at home, bland and nothing special. Whenever I try a new Japanese restaurant I always get the basic salmon and tuna sushi combo. All I can say was the tuna was watery and they definitely did not season the rice. It also seems like not a proper sushi rice.

Rice was horrible for sushi legit is just steamed rice no flavour ebi was no better then what you get in a gas station wasabi was watery not impressed at all if you want good for for your money sushi California all the way will never order again that’s for sure

*** Edit: SInce the owner said that we were not treated well because they were busy, I take back the statement about the treatment I received for who we are. Now that said, we still did not get good service. We went to Chef Sushi right after and they were equally busy if not busier but we were greeted in, treated respectfully. They checked on us more than 3 times to make sure everything is okay and we were enjoying the food inspite of them beng very busy. I understand it can be hard for restaurants but customers are reasonable and if you are busy, just say we are busy could you wait till we can serve you. That tells that you respect your customer. ****************************************************************** The staff at the time we went was super disrespectful. The moment that made us leave without ordering food was when the menu were thrown at us. Sadly I observed the others were not treated in such fashion. so something about us lead to this bad treatment almost felt discriminated for our race. We left without trying anything.

I ordered food here from Uber eats, the edamame was very good but I had to add salt because there was no salt at all on them, my miso soup was okay, and my rice was not good at all, it had a weird taste and they only gave me one packet of soy sauce, I always enjoy sushi rice and it is my favourite type of rice but this one just tasted old and like then took a bunch of excess rice that had been touched my lots of different fish and left out to sit for a day, I am not sure if it was just the batch of rice but the rice was not good

I came here once for dinner while in town for a conference. We ordered a sushi combo and chicken donburi. The tempura in both the yam and dynamite rolls were freshly fried. The dynamite roll had two pieces of shrimp instead of the usual one at most places. The chicken donburi came with a good amount of vegetables and sauce. The service was fast and friendly. Our tea cups were promptly refilled. Prices were reasonable and portions were relatively large. The quality wasn’t excellent, but about what I had expected. Overall, we were pleasantly surprised with the meal and would return in the future if we needed a quick bite in the area.

Very friendly staff. Delicious sushi but fried udon is a little bit sweet taste. The price is reasonable for that quality. Highly recommend.
