Always wanted to try but line ups too long in the mainland but got a chance when we visited Victoria. Called ahead to orders for take out and service was great. Food was good as was presentation but our kids as much as they like it found it too sophisticated for their taste buds and prefer the basic white spot. Depends if you want the fancy brunch which you get here so it’s a must try out never had before. Very big and filling portions so your getting your moneys worth.
Arrived around 8:30am on a Saturday Waited 50 minutes to get in but had fast service and food arrived quickly. It's a smaller place with just 40 seats. Your whole party has to be in line waiting for them to let you in and they let groups of 2 faster than 6s. People in line are always impatient. I got the chicken and waffles which was good. Something to do once. Quite pricey for breakfast but reasonable serving size. If you are looking for a calm breakfast place this isn't it as its very rushed getting people in and out which I get since there is always a large lineup.
Jam cafe is outstanding! So glad we waited in line, which actually did move pretty fast. I had the Charlie bowl which was so delicious and very filling, I could not eat it all. The sausage gravy with the biscuit bits, was just amazing. My husband tried the Hayley style coffee and it too was so delicious. Thank you Jam cafe, we will be returning!
Cute little breakfast spot. We waited quite a bit to get a table. We were a group of 3 and they have a much easier time seating tables of 2 as many groups behind us went ahead of us. We sat outside on their patio just off the sidewalk. I had the traditional breakfast. It was pretty good but did not look as appetizing as I expected from seeing other places come out.
Great breakfast and brunch options. They have many food options and everything looked awesome : The veggie bowl was packed with many kind of vegetables and tasty gravy. I loved adding their hot sauce for a little bit of kicks. I would love to go back and cannot wait to try something else.
Jam Cafe is always super hyped and I had never visited before because the lineups at the Vancouver location, which is the closest location to me, were always way too long. I finally got to try Jam Cafe at their Victoria location for brunch as the wait time was only 15 or 20 minutes. I ordered the pulled chicken later tater bowl and it was good, but definitely didn't live up to the crazy hype. It is a good brunch spot, but I wouldn't wait hours in line for it.
Food was delicious and portions were very good. Went in the am, and had a bit of a wait for a table as it gets busy throughout the day. Great atmosphere and staff and service was friendly and fast. Definitely recommend this place for a breakfast or brunch. Highly recommend the chicken and waffles on the menu.
The atmosphere was lively. The tables are really close together and walking between the tables to get to the bench seat of your table can be a little tight. The selection on the menu seemed quite big which is nice. I ordered the Chicken French toast. The good: they used brioche bread which made the French toast fluffy and soft. The chicken was nice and crispy. The bad: there were only 2 smallish pieces of the chicken so the dish was only filling because of all the bread. At $21 for the dish I would have thought there to be more chicken. There was also this maple bourbon BBQ sauce that the toast was soaking in. It was a lot and very sweet as well. I had to scrape the sauce off my toast for me to be able to eat it. More good: the service was great and so is the cornbread.
Really enjoyed our breakfast at Jam cafe this morning! Had the chicken and waffles - both were great on their own, but I added a warm maple butter on the side to truly get the sweet and savoury combination. The white gravy it came with wasn’t my thing. The service was pleasant, and there is bottomless coffee. The line after us was quite long. Price was a bit more than I had hoped for two people for breakfast - $61 after tax and tip. The first tip option on the payment terminal was 18% which is higher than average.
Great service and great food! I tried John's Place, Blue Fox Cafe, and Jam Cafe in the span of 3 days. Service and menus were great at all 3. With a similar type of cuisine, you can't go wrong with any of the 3 places. We tried the Herald Omlette and the later tater bowl at Jam and both were great. I liked the seating at Jam cafe, as well as the Chicken Apple Sausage! Id recommend any of the 3 places for breakfast/brunch, but go early or you're waiting in line for a while.
