If you're thinking of ordering IKEA through here, don't. Use ferry godmother. Drove 5 hours here for my 10-2 pickup date. Told to come back in 2 days. When stated that this was my arranged pickup time, was told to call ikea and complain. Most definitely will be. Ease their burdensome load, and use another option for shipping.
The ikea pick up location was a bit tricky to find, they have a small sign on the fence at the end of the parking lot that I originally missed. Pick up times are noted thru the ordering process and it is limited between 10am - 2pm.weekly mon to Friday, and closed on sat and Sunday. Reciving my items was easy a fast. Make sure you have I.D. and that your name is on the pick up, if you are picking up for your spouse or anyone other than yourself make sure that person sends a email to the warehouse ahead of time giving the ok for pickup. Its a bit of hassel as I didn't know the first time I picked up for someone else.
There is obviously a huge problem either at the pick up depot or IKEA in terms of communication. Perhaps both? My partner took time off work to drive us the hour and a half journey to Nanaimo from Courtenay. Sunday January 10 we received our first email telling us our IKEA pkg was loaded on the truck and reminding us to pick it up between 10 and 2. The address on the email cited 3683 Boban Rd. When we arrived we discovered the correct address is 3683 B Boban Rd. The pick up point was at the far end of the large building designated 3683 Boban Rd and marked only by a tiny red sign on a mesh fence saying IKEA PICKUP. A kind Truck Driving Instructor got out of his truck after watching us drive around and pointed to where we should go. When we thanked him, he commented that the location was unclear and poorly marked. We arrived at 10 to be told the truck hadn’t arrived and they would call us IF it came in. We explained we had taken the day off work and it would cost us in transportation 3 hours to go to Courtenay and return 2x would be 6 hours instead of 3. We went and had a coffee and returned again at noon and this time we were told the truck would not arrive and even if it did we would not get the order today and we should go home and maybe return next week and try again. The staff was courteous but could not even give us a phone number to call in advance to make sure the item has indeed arrived instead of trusting emails that said it HAD arrived at 10:13 AM when it had not. Someone is obviously lying or IKEA has major issues with its automated tech. Either option indicates poor business practice. We will be sending this missive to IKEA customer service to suggest they stop buying themselves poor advertising. IKEA needs to clean up their communications and stop frustrating the people in the Comox Valley. Be fair. We understand it’s COVID and there may be delays but at least OWN your responsibilities and if you can’t make your commitments clearly communicate the why of it before your actions cost others unfairly. This is just good business practice.
The staff were very helpful efficient and pleasant. The signage is terrible, and IKEA only sends the building number and does not include the unit number which makes it hard to find in a industrial building. As well the building is hidden behind another and can't be seen from the road. Not impressed.
I placed an order for $12,00.00 worth of kitchen cabinets, 280 pieces. I live in Sayward, northern Vancouver Island. I hired a trucking company to pick up my order and deliver it to Sayward. The "Collection place" would not release it because it was on certain pallets that they would not include in the pick up. I offered to pay a deposit to return, to buy the flippin pallets...........I spent a week calling IKEA etc. The Collection point expected whoever to pick up the order had to handbomb it...............Anyways I told IKEA to return the shipment and issue me a credit immediately, which they did. Has anybody else had the same experience?
Extremely friendly and helpful staff, terrible signage. We had a heck of a time finding the place it's at the very back of the lot on the left hand side. Look for the red banners instead of trying to find any Ikea brand colours like I did. Once we found the loading dock, the warehouse guys bent over backwards to see if we needed help loading up or purchases. All in all, it wasn't a huge deal, but it was somewhat frustrating. Could be I'm just not very observant or not very clever, and you can find it without any problems.
Excellent customer service. I was greeted quickly with a smile. I was expecting to have to load my vehicle myself with my very large and heavy order, but the worker CJ happily did it for me. My only complaint is the lack of signage to find the building - some signs visible from Boban would be very helpful.
Hard to find the pick up point - poor signage. Ikea lost track of my order in their system and offered no help when I called. Went to pick up point and the order was not on their list. Was only able to get my order because I noticed a pallet with my name on it in the warehouse. Unreal.
Very quick and easy to pick up, got it done on my lunch break! If you use your google maps and zoom in it helps find it easier. Basically, go in off Boban just past Smokin' Georges, it is on the far back of #4386. The numbers are giant and right on the side of the building, clearly visible from the road. Friendly service, in and out in less than 10 minutes. Ikea receipt clearly states you only have 7 days to pick up, hours are limited. If you are going to send anyone to get it for you, send signed written permission on a photocopy of your license or they won't release your stuff. I will definitely use again, beats the ferry!
Here is how you find this place. It's on the left side of the building behind the building that google maps takes you to - drive all the way to the back and you'll see a tiiiiny half covered red sign that says Ikea Pick up. When you get there, it will be closed because it only opens 10-2 Mon-Fri and nowhere does it mention that in the order form or otherwise. The ACTUAL unit # is 14B-4386. What a terrible set up. Honestly.
