I rented a townhouse through Hope Street and the whole experience was excellent, from the start with a digital inspection performed on all items in the house including any details that needed to be taken care of, to the processing of rent payment and any inquiries, to the turnover of the property back to Hope Street where a new digital inspection was performed and matched to the original to our satisfaction as tenants. All very professional and responsive from the start. Keep up the great work Stephanie, Shamaila and the rest of the team!
Utilizing the services of Hope Street was supposed to make our lives easier but that was far from the case. When the tenants moved out of our property Hope Street did not enforce their Move-out Checklist and our property was left very unclean and damaged. When trying to resolve the issue they would not respond to emails, texts or phone calls on several occasions. The end result was a reduction to the price of our property when we sold it.
I worked with Paula Allard from Hope Street and she was amazing helping me through the process of applying for a condo and moving in. She was always extremely responsive and quick with getting me what I needed. Wouldn't hesitate recommending her to anyone!
I wish i could put 0 stars but i cant. I have lived in a hope street townhouse since April. My experience has been HORRIBLE. On my move inspection, the house was not clean, they stated that they would not hire cleaners either, i was suppose to have air condition as stated on the ad, come to find out the air condition does not work and thy have no plans to fix it, i refused to sign my inspection form which to this day i don't have a copy of. A week into living at the house my dish washer wont drain, could not get ahold of anyone at hope street even though they have an "emergency line" so i have someone else come in and fix it. I fought with them on the legality and even had to get the tenant board involved to get my air conditioning fixed which took 3.5 months by the way. My washing machine flooded my laundry room and garage, so they repalced it, a week into the "brand new" washing machine the same thing happened however this time it flooded my kitchen, bathroom, laundry room AND garage. They finally sent a team in 24 hours later with fans to try and dry out the flooring, after 7 days of the fans being in there i personally had an AHS inspector come in and found out the floor WAS NOT dry and there is a good potential of mold. I have a 1.5 year old so we weren't able to stay at home while the fans where there and now with mold being a factor am not staying there again. I am now on week 5 of not being able to stay at my house, still paying full rent, and all they have done is take out 3-4 pieces of flooring to send out for "inspection' so that they can get approval on if the floor needs to be replaced. I have asked to get out of my lease and my option was "to pay the lease out or find a new renter that will take the house once the flooring is done" however i would have to continue paying rent if the renter doesn't meet standards. So i am stuck in this house till April of 2023. I am so frustrated you wouldn't believe. Oh and if you ever have questions and need to contact someone have fun, you will have to jump through 5-6 hoops and then the person you need to talk to will take days to weeks to answer you, they also will never pick up your phone calls. This is just a small portion of what has happened to my family since April. If i have any advice, steer clear cause come April we will NEVER rent from them again!
My experience has been pretty poor. I have a broken oven door that has not been fixed in over a year without any updates. I keep getting the owner's mail - called the Edmonton office and they sounded confused and were not able to provide instructions on what to do with it so I return to sender - usually it is either the province or City of Edmonton that is mailing items.
Hope Street does not do a good job of managing the owners of rental properties. Owner has sent random people to our rental property without 24 hour notice multiple times for non-emergency reasons and Hope Street has done nothing to address this issue. If you want appropriate 24 hour notices, do not rent through Hope Street.
Would not recommend ANYONE to rent an apartment under Hope Street Management. Expect absolutely no hope from them. They do not respond to service requests at all. They do not accommodate their tenants in any regard. They lie about responding to service requests made, and use that against you. I made several service requests through their portal, no one came to fix them for over a month, the service request portal showed they had come to our apartment and "fixed" it, when in truth no one had ever come. We ended up fixing the requests made ourselves because it was a hazard, and that was turned on us, and in turned charged for providing ourselves with a safe environment. If you paid them a safety deposit, they will do everything in their power to never return that to you, your apartment can be left to them spotless and they will still find something to withhold against you. Terrible service. Extremely standoff-ish, hostile and disrespectful employees. Do yourself a favour and seek elsewhere.
