Clean rooms and location. Everything from the parking garage to the hallways were spotless. The room we had was spacious and super clean. Seems HIE has a great theme no matter where in the world. I’ve stayed in Bangkok to Ottawa and the rooms are always clean and they have the best pillows! Check in was seconds and staff were very professional and friendly. Breakfast was standard for a hotel buffet. Great stay and will continue to stay with this chain
It was my first time to try this hotel. The service, and location were excellentnThe gym in spite of being small but was good.nBreakfast was acceptable with some varieties but the place was smallnThe laundry room was clean, easy to use just make sure you have the right change
I recently returned from a 2 night stay....nPros: Friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms, included breakfast and decent gym.nCons: Perhaps the biggest con was the location. It was definitely in a rough part of town. I could view skid row literally from my room window. There were no shops or restaurants within walking distance. Thank goodness for Uber Eats!. If you are coming as a tourist with children, which I was, I wouldn't recommend mostly due to the location. If you are coming for business, or just plan to spend a night or 2 in your room, it's perfectly acceptable. The other con was the pool... My Son was looking forward to it. However, as soon as we walked into the pool area our eyes started to burn from the chlorine. I get it, that it has to be chlorinated due to many people swimming in it, but it was overwhelming. Also, the water was murky and it was very small. However, we did swim in it, and actually didn't feel well the next day.
Be aware that this place is located in an area surrounded by drug addicts and homeless people. The hotel itself is decent, and the breakfast is good. The service is okay. The staff, none of whom seem to be Canadian, were okay as well. Try not to use the swimming pool, it’s not very clean and has algae.nnYou have to pay for the parking lot, 18 CAD + tax a day, and that’s only if you manage to get a spot. If not, you’ll have to park somewhere else and hope no one breaks into your car. The parking lot is covered with so much dust that it looks as if a volcano just erupted there.nnI personally think this hotel is overpriced and overrated.nI don’t recommend it.
You just have to know which street or side to avoid. Good if your drive or get back to hotel before dark. Breakfast was plentiful busy can get busy. Friendly staff. Pool is extremely small. Enough gym equipment. So so coffee at Lobby but had Timothy coffee pods. Well maintained hotel.
