Hinton / Jasper KOA

Story

Watch the sun sink behind the awesome Canadian Rockies at this KOA's quiet, peaceful setting. Three creeks border the beautiful clean-air campground in an open, treeless meadow at the foot of the mountains. It's a perfect base for trips to area parks. The entrance to Jasper National Park is 15 minutes away. Marvel at this park's rugged peaks, blue glaciers and wildflower meadows. Wildlife is abundant, including bighorn sheep. Ride the aerial tramway 3,281 feet to the summit of Whistlers Mountain for views of six mountain ranges, teal-green glacial lakes and rivers. Take to hundreds of miles of trails on foot or drive the lovely Icefields Parkway that winds south along the Continental Divide to Banff National Park. Or head north: KOA is 1 km west of Highway 40, the scenic route to Alaska. This KOA was voted one of the "Top 50 Scenic Views" by ReserveAmerica.

Weather you're planning to stay in a tent, in a cabin, in a recreational vehicle (A.k.a. an R.V.), or a camper, this is a great place to go camping at with your individual self or your family! There's a few washrooms and laundry rooms situated around the area. There's a rule in the area that states that there can not be individual fire pits, so there's one big fire pit where everyone staying there can join together and have a nice little talk before going to sleep. There's also an outdoor kitchen that's located somewhere in the area where you can cook some of your meals, it includes a stove, a sink, and some eating tables.

Friendly staff, good customer service, clean and well kept, including washrooms. We liked the cabin we stayed in overnight. The mattresses left a bit to be desired, not the comfiest, as the surface is plastic, not cloth. (But at least we knew it was bug-free). Neat decor: everything, including the bedsteads and bench, were made from solid logs. We loved the porch swing!

Stayed 2 nights in the small cabins. Very quaint. Be sure to bring your own bedding and cookware. Units are equipped with a bar fridge and tv. The small cabins have a double bed and a bunk. Washrooms are close by and a common covered cooking area is available. The staff show you right to your cabin or stall upon arrival. A dog park is on site. Books and games are available to borrow. Guest appreciation meals or events are held throughout the summer months. Will definitely be back!

Loved the staff here. They were always very accommodating. Facilities are immaculate, with great showers and a laundromat. It has outdoor cooking areas and a well-stocked store with camping necessities. Would definitely stay here again. They even have a doggie play area!

We spent one night here in a tent, but did not get the opportunity to check out all of the amenities. The bathroom and shower facilities were excellent, but the tent and trailer sites were very closely spaced, with no privacy. The campground is located very close to the highway, so highway sounds can be heard clearly throughout the night. Reservations were easy to make online.
