Hardisty Seniors Community

It has been a month since my sister in law passed away. She came to Hardisty from the hospital already struggling with dementia and how it had ravished her body. The staff on the 2nd floor, led by Surekha, were amazing! They tried to rehabilitate her back to some mobility and encouraged her to meet others in the facility. As she continued to fail in health they helped me walk through the steps of comfort care. They insured I had a chair bed, pillow and blanket so I could stay with her 24/7 hours. They brought me warm meals that were very good. The staff were so kind and caring to Joyce, always making sure she was comfortable. The facility may be old but I met staff who were totally committed to dignity of life for their residents, I had a bird's eye view of how a nursing staff take care of people in their care. I will be forever grateful to those who helped Joyce through her last months.

This place is exactly why people fear old age facilities. My grandfather is basically sharing what feels like a closet with another resident. He's gone so far downhill since leaving the hospital and I'm not surprised because the place is so run down that it's truly depressing. I cant believe the state of this facility. Like others have said, it stinks and good luck finding staff. We walked in and my grandfather was trying to cover himself with a towel because he was cold and no one could be bothered to bring him a blanket. I can't imagine anyone staying there long term and being happy. I felt ill leaving my grandfather there. I wish another place had opened up because I wouldn't wish this placement on anybody.

As some have posted here, where do I start? DO NOT ALLOW ANY OF YOUR LOVED ONES ANYWHERE NEAR THIS HELL HOLE. And I had to give them 1 star or it wouldn't let me post my comments. My father-in-law was transferred to Hardisty from the Royal Alex hospital after being there for 6-8 weeks after having back surgery. Unfortunately, he has not been able to walk since the surgery but at the hospital he was receiving physio & rehab and was keeping an open mind and being positive of his recovery. Once he was moved to Hardisty everything changed. The staff are rude, unattentive, no devices in the rooms to assist with moving the residents. The bathroom doorway is too narrow for a wheelchair to fit through so they have to take him to a washroom down the hall. He calls for assistance and ends up soiling himself because know one comes to help him. He fell off the toilet in the washroom this morning and was left on the floor for an hour. He had to call my mother-in-law at home to get help by calling the front desk. 2 tiny girls are supposed to lift this man in and out of bed its no surprise no one will assist him without any lift mechanisms. The food, well lets just say the 1 meal a day is all he gets because again no one will bring him food or take him to the dining area. I find it quite surprising reading these reviews how the positive comments will receive some sort of acknowledgment from the manager of Hardisty but the comments like mine receive nothing. No acknowledgement. I will be in contact with the MLA of the Goldbar/Hardisty community and also Global news. This place needs to be shut down or the manager needs to be fired and someone in place that will clean up this building and the staff.

Get past the older facade. The RN and LPN staff are amazing, the food is good, the recreation activities are well thought out.nDetermine to look for the best and you will find it.

Do not allow your family member to be placed at Hardisty. Refuse the first bed available out of hospital if it is Hardisty. I would rate it a zero or less if I could. Staff lie all the time, there is no positive interaction by staff with the residents. The food is absolutely horrible and hardly anyone eats it. The care is less than standard, the staff sit around and claim they feed your family member when it is very obvious they do not. The recreation director lied about activities and then admitted it when she was challenged. Other facilities report them but nothing changes. DO NOT GO THERE
