Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa – Toronto Jarvis Adelaide

I had the most frightful experience here; my entire chest is bruised, swollen and so painful that I can not even put on a bra or any top with seams, all following a massage at this place. I took pictures of my bruises and emailed them to the place as well as called them; the owner emailed me back saying she will speak to me on the phone (I'm assuming she doesn't want to say anything in writing). She apologized but said that it's basically my body that reacted like this - not that the therapist had any wrong doing. I asked her to send me an email with these statements but she hasn't yet and I doubt she will. I plan on following up with CMTO because I have even having regular massages for a long time but never did I imagine that I could be so damaged and have the quality of my life so impacted by this. I felt pain throughout the massage and expressed it but the therapist said that my muscles are just tight. She did not know what she was doing - she basically rubbed my upper tissue raw without even getting to the muscle. I wish I could add the pictures to this review, I will on yelp. I am not sure what I expected from speaking with the owner but all I got was that my body is at fault for reacting this was to the massage and an offer to come for a complementary 'relaxing' massage so that I can relax. Way to add insult to injury. Literally.

Terrible experience! Spoke to Ashley who made no effort to resolve my issue and then said she was going to “terminate this call” without making any effort to escalate the problem. Do NOT get tricked into their membership package. I have called SIX times and been told there is no availability to schedule an appointment. This was after I made it explicitly clear I do not have visibility months out and cannot book months in advance. They refused to refund me and now I have wasted money. Busy professionals beware.

One star based on the same problems others noted below: -rude service from their receptionist -questionable charging of my credit card -lack of avilabilities for appointments unless you book way in advance; this is really bad for the busy professional I deeply regret paying for a membership which I am unlikely to ever fully use. The place used to be good a couple years ago hence the old 5 star reviews, but now they ought to fire their receptionist, have a lawyer confirm their billing practices are legal, and do a better job with flexible hours (or at least warn customers they do not book without significant advance notice).

I've been their member since this March. I am happy with their service in a relaxing atmosphere and professional environment they have created. I especially admire the owner's integrity. She cares about her business by taking care of her clients. It's the right way to do it.
