This location is very great for a quick ramen trip. They have a good menu with a range of options, but it’s not overwhelming. There’s a small dining area. Food is quick and reasonably priced. You get a lot in your bowl for the actual price you pay. There are a lot of options in the area but I would definitely recommend this one!
This was my first time dining in at Gyugyuya Japanese Restaurant, and it turned to a very good experience, indeed. First of all, it has a nice decoration with yellow color. Second of all, the Japanese music, which was playing, was very good, as it makes you feel more connected with the atmosphere. The staff are very polite, kind and friendly. I ordered the Ton Katsu Curry which is my favorite dish and I have tried it in many places. The food looks well, although I didn’t like the plate. The portion of pork, rice and curry was very good. And most importantly, the taste of the food was very delicious. It wasn’t the best Katsu Curry I have ever had, but it was something that I would come back for. I will further write a review if I visited the restaurant again.
This was my first experience with Japanese curry. The appearance of the Japanese curry reminded me of KFC gravy. I enjoyed the meal. The metal bowl for the main meal and metal plate for calamari were a different experience, too. First time that I saw a can of Arizona Green Tea being offerred at a restaurant. All in all, the vibe is a Japanese fast food restaurant. I will be back to try other dishes.
Great chicken and pork cutlets over rice. Mains all come with a miso soup too. The gyu don was delicious, only wish that the balance of chicken to rice was a bit more on the chicken side. The rice seasoning was a nice touch! The waitress is super diligent and speedy. Great spot for a quick lunch.
The food was good. I tried cheese with beef don't remember the exact name but check the photo and it was good. Serving size and price was reasonable. There's a parking spot right opposite to it which is not so cheap but is better and close by. You'd see a lot of Japanese eating there regularly so if you want to interact with Japanese, it's the right place. Parking: Opposite is the paid parking in the plaza basement. Not so cheap. You can park the next road near The Printers on street by paying by hours.
Sadly this place has gone a little down hill. The service was fine and my curry beef was decent. But my boyfriend got the large king meal, and besides the meat portion being smaller than the image, the katsu seemed to be more than 1/3 fat. In the image you can see an entire peice is 100% fat. Serving such a fatty piece just means cost cutting in the kitchen.
Curry is ideal for this time of the year! Gyugyuya opened years ago as one of GTA's first Japanese curry houses. To this day, it's yellow theme is synonymous with the food. They've got solid Gyu Don too with beef slices simmered in sweet soy sauce on rice. Chicken Katsu Curry has a perfectly deep-fried crispy chicken on rice and a thick layer of rich Japanese curry sauce. A perfectly hearty lunch meal, tempered with shredded cabbage & egg. What's there not to like! Look for the huge cow head logo & the bright yellow exterior, you can't miss it!
Came here for a quick lunch and was not disappointed. The bowl I had was fantastic - flavourful and filling. It was also very quick service and the staff were friendly and attentive. I'd definitely come back to try more items on the menu.Food: 5/5
After 2 years, I had finally came back to one of my top eats in Toronto near the Ryerson campus. I'd always go here with friends and classmates since Gyugyuya is a decently priced meal. The deep fried mackerel, beef/cheese combo and tonkatsu are well made. The meal is portioned well, you can even have leftovers afterwards. The staff there on duty always had my water cup full at all times - really appreciate that gesture. Love to come by again on a more regular basis - thanks Gyugyuya!
The staffs here are so so friendly and kind! I ordered the curry donkatsu and it was very delicious. However, the katsu was not cooked the best and it was chewy : But overall a great restaurant!
