I would recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a decent options of sushi! The quality of their food, especially their beef is a lot better than most AYCE restaurants! I like the fact that the servings were not too big so you are able to try most of what’s in their menu. Servers were nice. Approachable, friendly and quick. They have a 15% gratuity added on bill but they tell you right ahead. I can’t speak for everyone but this works for me as I usually tip within that range when I eat out. The only reason I gave 4 stars is that I find that in some of the items, they are putting a sweet sauce on top that for me is a bit strong. It makes the taste of the food very similar to each other. Rather than that, I would definitely come back!
Nice and delicious restaurant. The staff are focused on fast delivery of the ordered food and picking up of empty plates. They could bit a tad more friendly but they hustle so much that the lack of friendliness, greetings, or chit chat is ok. The place is clean, the food is fresh and delicious. Parking at the rear of the building is plenty but sometimes hard to get to depending on the traffic coming in and out of the parking lot. Don’t eat for 12 hours before going… you’ll want to order EVERYTHING! And order at least 2 deserts per person. Their deserts are tiny.
My first Japanese winter treat in Canada which I enjoyed dearly with my friends and colleagues. I was expecting a Japanese greetings when we came in but I noticed that the staff barely speak the language. Covid-19 protocol was observed. Job well done. Diners should be ready with their the latest vaccination receipt and a government ID to be seated. For a buffet, food are served family style, brought by staff on each table. Service was fast though. I have enjoyed most of the dishes served. I also like that they made some soup fusion, like the Kimchi soup. I love the tempura dishes from ebi to vegetables as well as the different variety of sushi. The ramen were good and the desserts are fabulous. Staff should be a little bit attentive and friendly. But overall, it's commendable.
I've been to this restaurant 4 times now for all you can eat. Every time that I've gone, the food has been tasty and nicely presented. The seafood is fresh and the cheese wontons called golden flower on their menu are delicious. The price is fair, considering that they have a large assortment of items on their menu, the quality of the food is great and you can order as much as you want. I also like that Matsuda offers several options for dessert because most of the all you can eat restaurants that I've been to have only 2-3 dessert choices.
I've been coming here since before the pandemic and things have definitely changed up. Before, I'd probably have given Matsuda 5 stars - that's how much I enjoyed the unique AYCE sushi and teppanyaki experience. But there are definitely some things that have changed for the worse. First off, I don't think I would ever come here for just sushi AYCE. Since the teppanyaki option comes with AYCE sushi, we did try a small selection of the sushi menu while the chef was getting ready. I didn't love anything we ordered - the torched salmon, unagi sushi and green dragon roll all had crazy amounts of rice. Like 25% more rice than I'm used to in a bite. It simply did not taste good. The sashimi was decent for AYCE but not as fresh as I remember. The teppanyaki part was still a treat and I have fewer complaints about that. As always the chef is professional and skilled and will cook the food properly. They have changed up the menu a bit, since I don't remember tofu or short ribs ever being part of the teppanyaki set. I didn't particularly enjoy either of the additions. But my favorites as always, were the chicken, sirloin steak, shrimp and salmon. They do try to fill you up on larger quantities of the in my opinion cheaper foods, such as the white fish and fried rice. I did end up ordering seconds of my favorites but was genuinely too full to enjoy it from the amount of rice in my sushi earlier. One thing I'll note that was better this time - the service was actually quite prompt and accurate. A lot of reviews say the service isn't good but I found it very pleasant when considering the number of people that were dining the day I went. Finally, price - it's now $44 a person on weekdays and even more for weekends. That's crazy! I definitely cannot justify that based on the amount I can eat. I could pay under $50 and get a better a la carte experience elsewhere. Do not come to Matsuda expecting to eat your money's worth - you're paying for the experience, which I admit is worth a bit in itself. There is a 10% cash discount so it ended up being $51 pp including the automatic service charge and tax. The discount is very nice so I'd recommend bringing cash. I'd also recommend making a reservation if you come near a holiday or weekend, as it was a quoted 45 min wait for AYCE sushi tables and I doubt any walk-ins were available for teppanyaki when we arrived. Edit: Also want to mention, please tip your teppanyaki chef if you enjoyed their service! Parking: Lots of spots available but if Matsuda is full, the parking will be full too.
I personally don't like AYCE Japanese food but this one is a decent one. It is $45 PP but I had my stomach full. Sushi is actually better than Sashimi. Lots of cooked food. I recommend this place, this one is located in North York.
Very good AYCE Japanese place in Toronto. Sashimi is fresh and sushi has the right portions, not too much rice like other places. The hot pot dishes are also very yummy. Highly recommend!
My family and I went right when they opened yesterday April 9th, 2022 at 3pm. We ordered pretty typical things except maybe the B&B yogurt was the only atypical item not sure if that was the issue or not. We got home and at different times, we all got sick with nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, which we figured was food poisoning. I frequented many AYCE sushi places without issues and I've also eaten here before with no issues as well, but just this time, as I'm writing this review, we're all recovering from sickness. Also one of the first menu items we ordered was the beef tataki, yet it was one of the last items to come right before dessert and seemed freshly defrosted. Not sure if that was the issue either, but there's a lot of contenders. I've attached some images of what we ordered and hopefully everyone who ate here yesterday is okay.
First time again visiting this place due to pandemic but it was worth it. The food quality is amazing compared to the other branch, service was quick and everything tasted fresh.. the price went up but that was understandable. They don't make you feel rush so they can accommodate more customers.. we took our timing and enjoyed our dinner. I highly recommend this place for a great all you can eat Japanese cuisine..
Went to eat the Tepayaki today. Didn’t know they only serve AYCE Tepayaki. I wish they told us when calling for the reservation. They only open starting at 3PM. The website has the ala cart Tepayaki but when you get there you were forced to take the AYCE. We were 5 of us 2 seniors and had to pay $300. They automatically charged 15% the tips. I think the meaning of tips are abused. I always tips but being forced to give 15%? The chef and staffs are friendly and nice. The foods are not so good. They are not so tasty. I don’t think it is worth it and I don’t think we will go back. Will I recommend? No Parking: Free parking and lots of parking space
