One of my favorite kitchen stores, I’m not often on this side of town, but when I am, I always make time to visit here as well. Large selection of kitchen items, and food especially fresh cheeses have all been delicious
Absolutely love this place. They know so much about the exciting cheeses they carry and let you taste before you buy. The customer service is through the roof. You feel like they know you when you’ve left. Everyone is kind and helpful and seems to really enjoy working there. And if you haven’t tried the pickled cherries they just got in, then get there now and try them! Exceptional!
Grace in the Kitchen is my go to place to get quality ingredients and amazing cheese - but the most outstanding service they offer is their knife sharpening. Not only is it extremely high quality and affordable, but Jeff has such care for his work that when repairing one of my knives I'd chipped severely, he included a note on how to prevent the damage in the future. Highly recommend.
Absolutely outstanding and professional job by Jeff at the knife sharpening desk at the Grace in the Kitchen location in Kanata. The man was extremely helpful, communicative and ultimately successful in doing a knife sharpening job for me. If you need a blade done right, and perhaps with some hand holding and updates, look no further than Jeff and the team in Grace in the Kitchen in Kanata. I cannot say enough positive things about him!! It is rare to get this kind of attention to detail these days.
I usually do not write reviews good or bad. However I am shocked. I brought my knives in to be sharpened, 5 Henckels Knives, albeit not the high end but entry/middle from Spain International. My first mistake is I went to the wrong counter, where they appear to sell knives, immediately she, Ali looked at my knives, told me they were cheap ones and they would not hold an edge. She told me if there was problem Jeff the sharpener guy would call me or leave a note. He never called me or left a note. I brought my knives in on Saturday Sept 24 and was told I would get a call that they were ready on Monday morning. I never received a call so called in the afternoon and speaking to the lady on the other end, who was surprised as she indicated everyone had been called already, so after being on hold, which was fine for awhile the lady came back on, apologized and told me they were ready for pick up. About an hour later another person called me saying they we ready, I indicated that I know as I already called. Picked up my knives and paid for them, however did not get to use them until October 1, where I found out they were never sharpened as they would not even cut a tomato. So called back, Ali answered and I was told to bring them back in as she wanted to see them, not sure why. I could not make it in until October 2, where I explained to a very nice lady at the front that they were not sharpened. She indicated they would take care of it. Got a call from Ali on Monday indicating my knives were ready and went in at the end of the day, for some reason she had them and tried to indicate again, the age and quality of my knives were not good. She did apologize for the mix-up but only after I was on my way towards the door and I went on my way and was happy at least this time I had sharp knives, so I thought. Well I tried my knives on October 5, they were not sharpened at all, so I am out $32.00 and 2 trips to the store. I engaged another company who sharpens knives, who indicated, they were not sharpened at all. He sharpened them and today October 6, I picked them up and boy are they sharp. I was also told they are a good quality knives and will last for along time given proper care. I will not be back to Grace in The kitchen again, my wife and I used to buy quite a bit in there at the other location and also did get my knives sharpened there as well, twice, not sure what happened since they moved. There are plenty of Kitchen Stores to go to in Ottawa and if you need your knives sharpened find somewhere else, they are more interested in trying to sell you something else, even though what you have is of good quality. Shame on you.
Lovely clean ambience. Massive stock levels of almost everything. Absolutely delightful staff. But it's none of it cheap - even the lines that one can easily buy elsewhere for 1/2 the price. That said, still go for the unusual and the experience...
We had a Henckels Professional S paring knife that had gone through the dishwasher one too many times. The handles came off and the tip had broken. The knife was in rough shape. I spoke to Alison @ Grace in the kitchen and she informed me that it was under warranty. No questions asked, she found a replacement and I was on my way. I could not have had a better experience. Thank you Alison!!
We are so lucky that we have a quality kitchen store right here in Kanata. It makes me happy to learn that they have expanded in the last year. If you really take the time to meticulously browse all the aisles you will realize that they carry an inordinate amount of kitchen and foodie items. They also seem to regularly rotate thier stock to keep up with recent trends. Don't be enticed by those 70% off ads in the Canadian Tire flyers for what may seem like similar products. Grace is one of the few places in Ottawa that sells the high end quality pots, pans, knives etc. that your kids will still be using long after you are gone. I encourage you to compare for yourself. Dont be afraid to ask the Grace staff how thier items compare to the competetion. There is a reason a single pot costs more at Grace than a 10 piece set at Costco. In addition to great kitchen items, Grace also has one of the regions best cheese counters and you will also find freezers full premade meals, plenty of dry pastas, canned fish, olive oils, and everything else you would expect in a kitchen store. Grace also has a little coffee bar with great organic coffee, pastries and tea offerings and they promote local artisan food producers. OMG i just realized this review makes me sound like a hippie! Anyways - insider tip here ... when I cant think of a gift for that foodie in my life, I head over to Grace and tell one of the knowledgeable staff 'I have X to spend, please show me some items no one would ever buy for themselves'. These gifts have always been a big hit!
Grace in the kitchen has a great selection of products. But even more important is the knowledgeable, friendly and professional staff. A special mention should be made of Alison at the Zwilling counter.
Good day to you lovers of food! Just stopped by GK! Wow!! New store looks amazing! My first time in their new shop, and it was a really great experience! Their cheese options are still stellar.. ha, got the new 10yr aged cheddar, blownd away.. so tasty, price was more then fair. Shropshire blue still best on town!
