These guys used to be amazing. The food is still amazing but due to new management/owners, you’re paying double for what you get. People are looking for a good Hakka meal and here you are just profiting off that desire. It’s obvious the new owner wants nothing but money not happy customers.
Local Indian style hakka Chinese restaurant. Their chilli chicken is good value for money.
I don’t know what to say. I’ve been coming here for a very very long time and I must say, this place was bomb. The guys knew my order the moment I walked in. Until I heard they retired and only one of the guys are left, that’s when they went downhill. The lady that works there is very very rude. Apparently she’s 70% owner which is why she can be rude to her customers. They always offer 10% off cash orders and it indicates on their menu. She goes no it’s Christmas I only give you 5%. ??? Like how can you tell a customer that when it shows other wise. She’s very difficult to deal with too. Takes 1 hr just to write the order down. I even came on Christmas Day with everything on a piece of paper and it still took her a long time to get my order complete. She is also really rude when you have questions about the food or anything tbh. She becomes defensive. Also they’re is a lot of kids stuff around as if it’s her house. Her kids even come on some nights to hang out in the restaurant running around. One of them had no pants on one time while she was at the back. I can never take that image out of my head. The food quality has gone down but the guy I know still makes the food so I’m not disappointed there. I just hate to give away money to a lady that claims she’s the owner she can’t do what she wants. Very very disappointed on her. She needs to get fired and I will call the city on her about all the kids stuff thats all around the restaurant. 10+years and I think it’s time for a new spot. 0 stars to the lady that works there.
I ordered chilli chicken from this restaurant and this had happened for the second time. I ordered extra onion and extra gravy. When the order came in, it had no onions and no gravy and it was plain dry. The lady who works at the front doesn’t know how to communicate with the person talking to her and its really difficult trying to.
Not sure what ppl are saying. Same guys in the kitchen and always amazing food. Of course they raised their prices, they were super cheap before and gave such large portions. Given how much the cost of food increased, this is still a really good deal and it tastes amazing. Kudos to this business for staying open during the pandemic even as the rent and food costs went up. I have gone here for 15 years and come specifically from Oshawa now to still to eat here. Chicken pakoras, Chili Chicken and Manchurian Fried Rice or Noodles is my fave. Vegetarian options: Numerous veggie options. Parking: In a large plaza with lots of free parking.
HORRIBLE. As soon as I walked in, I wasn't feeling it. Being a customer here for many years the vibe wasnt the same. Toys, shoes and clutter was all in and around the eating area. All the tables were dirty with dirty dishes and food ,the place was empty. We sat down at the cleanest dirtiest table all to be ignored by this woman worker that walked by us 4-6 times without acknowledging us so we got up and left.We went to the Chilli chicken restaurant across the street beside the gas station and it was delicious, clean and the staff was very polite. NEVER EVER will I be returning to this place now that it's under new management. Been coming here for years....wat a shame!
Came with a group of 20 after a hike that ended at Kennedy Station, and found this place nearby. We got in a little before 2:45 PM, and there were already a few tables occupied, but we managed to get everyone seated. There was only one person working out front, but she let us to move tables around to accommodate the group. Restaurant is clean and spacious. Washroom is clean. Decor includes large fans hanging on the wall along with some portraits. Forks and napkins are provided. Spoons, knives, and chopsticks can be requested, though they gave me a pair of disposable chopsticks rather than the re-usable ones. They have two jars of chili sauce available on the side. You should definitely try them. The menu is extensive, with a lot of different dishes to choose from. They also have lunch specials on weekdays from noon to 3 PM, as well as daily specials listed on the wall. Four of us decided to go with Dinner Combo for 4, which came with Choice of Spring Rolls or Hot & Sour Soup Garlic Shrimp Boneless Chili Chicken Manchurian Mixed Chow Mein Beef with Snow Peas Egg Fried Rice Ice Cream Spring rolls came up first. Usually when I get spring rolls, it's usually a small cylindrical roll. However, this one was large and rectangular, with a thin crispy skin and lots of vegetables inside. The rest of the dishes start coming in shortly. They all came in fairly large plates/bowls, suitable for 4 people. We all had a chance to try a nice portion of each dish. Chili chicken was nice and tender, drenched in flavorful chili sauce. They add spices to each dish, so the flavors were definitely interesting. One issue is water refills. Because there was only one wait-staff, refills don't come unless you ask yourself. But this is not really a problem if you don't require waiters to check up on you every few minutes to see if you're doing alright. They don't offer ice cream on the menu, but the set combo comes with two scoops of vanilla ice cream, which is a nice way to finish the meal. Would recommend this place if you're around Kennedy station and looking for some indian-style hakka chinese food.
This restaurant is BELOW one star ! Dirty, horrible food AND service and WAAAYE over priced for tasteless tough vegetables and meat! They OVER charge and even with phone in orders you STILL have to wait 1/2 hour when you arrive. Does NOT come with soya sauce or plum sauce or napkins and cutlery. The worst is the dirtiness and visible “critters and roaches! DO NOT GO THERE! 74 dollars for 1/2 filled styrofoam containers! Public Health would shut this place down IMMEDIATELY! For a clean, reasonable, family owned restaurant go to House of Wong! You will be happy with cost and portions!
Best Hakka chow Mein… they use a different type of noddles ..that my family and I love. When I have family gatherings. It’s the one dish my family looks for .
Was very dissapointed today, I have been a customer for over 10 years, buying the same items every time. It used to be good food all the time but now have to say goodbye. Prices increased big time.
