I happened to find this by chance as I was in the area buying glasses . What a great place. I love the food, l love the decor plus seating, and I absolutely love the service. The place is also halal. It’s a great spot for lunch with your family and they also have tons of parking. Love it! Keep up the good service!
Loved the Indian style hakka Chinese cuisine. The staff had some very good recommendations. Level of spices and flavour were just perfect for me personally. Will certainly go back again if I am in the neighborhood.
One of best Indian Style Hakka Restaurant in Scarborough! Food is very Delicious portion are very good they have great menu with a lot of variety! Staff is very friendly and service is excellent! Highly recommended
Nice place if you looking for Indian-Chinese food. There portion sizes and varieties of dishes will not disappoint you. Good and quick service. I am giving them 3 stars as they screwed my soup last time, my hot n sour soup was way beyond sour, I just couldn’t have it, but the rest the food was good.Recommended dishesSpicy Fried ChickenRecommendation for vegetariansSomewhat recommendVegetarian offeringsLarge vegetarian selection
Great location. Amazing Food. Staff is really friendly and helps with whatever concern you may have. The food has always been fresh when we arrived at this location. Never had an issue with the food. I ordered the soup and it was a little cold and watery, when I notified the waiter he immediately rectified the issue with no hassle. Overall had a great experience. I ordered the Chicken 88 and Chilli Chicken and you should too. You will not be dissapointed.
To start there is enough parking space, the staff is humble and friendly elegant ambiance. I got the cottage special soup reminds me of Machow soup loved it and would recommend it the other soup we got was Hot & sour chicken which is good too. Chili Chicken was ok to me I had the option to get it spicy I didn't which I regret so go for the Spicer. The highlight was the Spice & pepper Clam it was really tasty and must try. Overall there is a lot of option to choose from you will get overwhelmed by the menu at first you should be fine or do ask for recommendations.
Date visited : Saturday April 02, 2022 Overall Rating for experience : 4/5 Comments : We've been coming to China Cottage even before pandemic, just getting around to the review now tho lol. We came for lunch special after we finished our grocery haul for the coming week. They are now accepting Dine-In business again woohoo!! Service : 4/5 On this visit we did have an attentive server. Checking on us at regular intervals, checking water levels etc. Food : 3/5 Normally I would rate the dishes we have at China Cottage more at 4/5 but this visit, was leaning more towards a 3/5. For this specific visit, we ordered off the Lunch specials menu : Ginger Beef, Chicken Teppanyaki & Chimken Hakka Noodles. The Ginger Beef was so red in color, no idea what they added to make it dark red. Also, there was barely any Ginger flavor also was lacking the spicy as the server had told us. As for the Chicken Teppanyaki, it was just okay, I had forgotten that I had ordered the dish before in 2019. The Chicken Hakka Noodles were also more from meh-okay. My wife likes Hakka noodles. So we had enough leftovers of the noodles for her to bring to work. Likely we won't be ordering their Ginger Beef and Teppanyaki Chicken again. There are other Chicken lunch offerings I have tried in the past and have enjoyed more. I'm kinda stuck with Chimken offerings due to beef and pork are an avoid due to managing gout. Drinks : The lunch specials come with the option for a soft drink. Tho I did make a recommendation that at least for those customers that are diabetic there should be a different option than a soft drink. Appears that they do have an option for Chinese Tea. Portion Size Value for Money Spent : 4/5 For a Lunch special at $9.99 CAD you get a good amount of rice + the entree ordered. Worth a repeat visit : Of course! As mentioned we've been somewhat regular diners here pre-pandemic.
Delicious hakka, we had hakka fish, hakka rice, chili beef. Everything cooked super well and spice level just right. Prices all mid $10s or less per dish. Servers super friendly, helpful and attentive. Highly recommend
I found the food to be below average. The fried rice was too salty. The chow mein was not good either. The chili chicken did not appear fresh, like it was microwaved then served. The fried fish was also too salty and chewy. I'm disappointed by the experience
The food was really good .The portions were good . The flavours were very good. The beef was bit salty but it was good . I loved the chilli chicken. The rice and noodles were a good spice. Overall 8/10
