Last year, 2017, I got sick after eating a sandwich there, a few hours later. I used to go there all the time, but stopped after this episode. I went in for the first time in a year just the other day and saw the guy handling change and making sandwiches with bare hands NOT WASHING HANDS FIRST! It may be safe to get a pastry but I would never buy another sandwich there again. Also there is a horrible stale smell in this place and if you sit for even 15 minutes your clothes will reek of this smell and of the dishwasher that is in the middle of the cafe. A few times I have been served stale pastries and had to complain. A lot of these places aren't up to standard like modern bakeries and have the same people going in all the time who don't seem to expect much. The only thing I like about it is in the summer you can sit outside and people watch. Beware of the hygiene practices in this place and play it safe and just buy a pastry.

This is the epitome of what I feel College street represents in Toronto. It's a memorable community spot. They know their customers and are so friendly. Pastries are incredible, especially custard tarts and doughnuts. Only downside would be that the coffee is just okay but that's not what you'd go here for anyway.

A nice cozy restaurant and bakery. Great for brunch with friends. Serves nice grilled sandwiches with chicken to ham and cheese. Portuguese coffee is served too. Some of the workers even greet you in Portuguese. Lovely place, good prices, fresh food and very Portuguese :)

The pastries, sandwiches, bread, and everything here is great. Best nata in the city. Everyone is really nice as well.

Lovely place .....great staff....great coffee and great pastry ... I've been coming back to this place since its opening for more than 20 years.An homey feeling....
