Floor Coverings International

We are new home owners, but we are not new at doing business. Me and my other half are both outraged about the way this situation took place. We had a signed contract before we began work and Mr. David Baker from Floor Coverings International and us went over the contract. After Work was finalized Mr. Baker was trying to charge us for services that were already included in the original contract. He obviously thought that because we are new home owners, he could take advantage of us. Before we started the work we were very clear about everything that we had agreed on. The job was to SAND and SEAL our deck with TWO COATS of sealer. Now let's clarify, ALL parts of the deck were included, as per contract: floors, base boards, spindles and handrails. Mr. Baker came to see the deck to give us the estimate, he personally saw the deck before we started work. After the work was done he told us that the spindles were not included in the job. The spindles part of a deck??! We tried to reason with Mr. Baker many times but he went around and around in circles and we never received a straight answer. They started applying the sealer on the handrails before sanding them. The handrails were in rough shape, lots of splinters. We had to asked them several times to please sand the hand rails before applying the product. They also missed applying the product in certain parts of the deck. After the first coat of product was applied, they refused to apply the second one. Mr. Baker quoted us a price for two coats, this is NOT what we have in the contract. On the upside, one of the employees was helpful, but the rest of them were not respectful of our property leaving garbage all over the yard after they were done with the work. We were willing to overlook a few things, so we took the high road and we said thank you to Mr. Baker just to keep things friendly, and then that's when the final charges came in. Mr. Baker was really out of line with the extra charges. He was charging us for things that were already included in the original contract. Why are you trying to charge us twice?, please refer to the contract", we asked him. This entire situation took us by surprise. Everything started off very well with the estimate and the plan to redo our deck and then it took a real bad turn. I would not recommend Floor Coverings International to family or friends and I will not do any future business with them. I hope that no one else goes through something similar and that's why hopefully you find this review helpful.

It was a pleasure having David Baker and his workers install my beautiful Italian porcelain tile floor. David was extremely professional and knowledgeable. The workmanship was excellent and I would most definitely recommend FCI Fairfield to anyone. In fact I intend to have them back to do additional work at a future point.

I am extremely pleased with the workmanship and professionalism of Floor Coverings, International and will use them again for any flooring needs.
