For these individuals to believe they’re entitled to strike for higher wages is absolutely ridiculous. When my mom was there they gave her absolutely horrible care. During Covid my mom who was 82 at the time was placed in isolation for the 14 days and upon coming out of isolation they said she was not Covid positive. That was Monday and come Wednesday my mom was in st Boniface critical care as she had Covid in both lungs. It’s a miracle she survived. Also my sister on bc was moms poa and stole my moms money but told Maples I was guilty of elder abuse since I care for my fir several years. They refused to let me talk or see my mom. They is if they even answered the phone. Remember this ie the sane care home that during Covid had i resident die and lay in their bed dead fir over 8 hours unnoticed. The Red Cross had to come in because the situation was so horrible with residents so sick and not care for. This is also the place that was filthy. They were under review but of course weezled their way out. They shouldn’t even be open. The strike would affect thd residents and they say the strike and a raise would benefit the residents. No it won’t. Once again they would be neglected. They deserve absolutely nothing. They’re also not hero’s. They’re villains. Caring not money makes fit good care givers.
First impressions seemed okay on the surface with kind staff, good chow, and cleaning up after Victoria Hospital's mistakes. Sadly, this place have the same problems no different than other nursing homes.nAlthough pleasant 99%, there's limited staff, especially doctors.nLittle to no security available @ the front doors.nRequested a special call button for my Dad has Parkinson's for almost 2 months and still waiting. He fell out of bed already and luckily wasn't hurt that badly.nHe's notorious for various infections i.e. blood, lung, stomach, and primarily VERY BAD urinary ones that usually requires a week of i.v. antibiotic treatment @ hospital. When he acted like he usually does with his infections, it was suggested to test his urine and of course, he had it.nWasn't impressed when it was questioned about him going to HSC when his infections have been treated with ultra strength i.v. antibiotics which once cured a potentially fatal one in the past. There was NO doctor present at the time when this occurred and oral antibiotics didn't work for him in the past, so to the ER he went. It seemed that more concern was applied to who'd pay his stretcher bill .
Not a very good nursing home. Problems from the start with staff handling elderly father, family asked for a meeting. Father was very unhappy and complained constantly. The food was terrible, his items disappeared, staff hitting him, other residents constantly screaming for assistance 2nd floor. They are good at covering up. A week after father was visited by family Feb 2016, he was happy and healthy, father was sent to hospital without family being contacted and father died at hospital. Unreal, hurtful and painful. Investigation pending.nnThey are not worth a full star.
The only focus is on making profit. Covid19 is shining light on an already existing problem in this institution which stems from the business model... the pandemic cannot be used to justify such poor care.nnMy father was a resident in 2018 for 11 days. He went in stable and in 11 days drastically deteriorated from the daily neglect. Still processing his passing which was clearly traumatic for both my father and our family.
Well it's a year ago today that mom left us and I was last in the Maples. A few days after her passing I found this Mrs. Claus doll that looked just like mom. I just had to share a picture. I really felt like she reached out to me. I hope all is well with everyone and all is going well now. Mom may be gone but I still think of you all and pray you are all well and safe. Take care love the Ward FamilynnMom was in the maples for almost 4 years. She passed November 19 2020. All the staff that took care of mom in 2 South are awesome caring people. Thank you for your compassion as I stayed with mom in her last few days. I'm going to miss all the friendly faces and hellos from everyone when my son and I came to visit. You all take care and stay safe. Your all wonderful caring staff hugs and love
