Story

From humble beginnings to a hamburger haven we at Dotty's take pride in creating the best burger--Dotty Dumplings Dowry was founded in 1968 in Des Moines, Iowa as a gift shop. Just a few years later in 1972, owner Jeff Stanley moved Dotty's to Madison, Wisconsin where he began his true calling as the hamburger king!

This place is one of my favorite burger places in town. Usually it can be very crowded so plan accordingly. I’ve tried many different burgers and they have all been great. So far my only complaint is that sometimes when the burger makes it out the bun is already soggy. The fries are great and a large size is a great sharing portion. Don’t forget about the milkshakes, which they will also split for you as well if asked.

The menu had no real thought toward gluten allergies, though the server saved the day a bit by offering to put a burger on greens. Fearing “greens” meant “iceberg,” I opted for a salad that used romaine instead. It was a good salad. The staff was great. Prices felt high. The atmosphere was eclectic and visually fun, but extremely loud.

The food was delicious and the service was quite pleasant. The shakes were very exquisite and delicious. I would definitely recommend if you like burgers and chicken sandwiches. The restaurant itself was beautiful looking with lots of awesome paintings and designs.

This has become one of my favorite spots in Madison. I come here every time I'm in Madison no matter what. The atmosphere is very unique and the staff are always super nice and curtious. It can be VERY busy so if you can, you should try to go during the non-peak hours. Their fried pickles, cheese curds, and poutine are all great appetizers to get. But really what you're gonna want to focus on is their selection of burgers, which is vast and glorious. They have a large selection of different burgers and you can also get lamb and bison as a substitute for beef. I go with the bison as it's incredibly flavorful, and amazingly juicy. The prices here are also very reasonable for the quality and quantity you get. Go here.

One of the best burgers I've had in a long time. My Southwest burger was dripping in their delicious house made BBQ sauce and exceeded my expectations. Our server was great and the atmosphere was pleasant.
