Field Table

The last time I was here I stopped in for a latte a half hour before their sign said coffee service stopped. The guy behind the counter ignored me while I patiently waited until he was done with whatever task he was finishing- no biggie there. But then the phone rang, he answered- still did not even acknowledge I was there (no eye contact, nothing) - and went straight back to what he was doing before the call. I continued to wait, thinking he surely will say something to me. After many minutes of silence, a guy comes out from the back of house and asks if there is anything he can do to help me. I say, "Yes. No one has even talked to me yet." He looks at the other dude like, "Really?" I then begin my order. After I order, the second man says, "Oh actually, we have already stopped our coffee service today." 10 minutes of my day, when literally the first guy could have just said, "We're closed for coffee service," instead of ignoring me.

Five of us had brunch there and other than a friendly waiter, our experience was very disappointing. The worst Bloody Mary I have ever had. A glass of tomato juice with absolutely no garnish. “They don’t do that”. Menu items did not match the description on the menu and were not satisfactory substitutions. Over all a bad experience. Do not recommend at all. Will never go back.

I had heard really good things about this place, but the overall experience (nothing terrible happened) was probably in top 10 least enjoyable Madison restaurant experiences. If I heard changes were made, i'd love to come back and write a glowing review! Pros: -tenderloin tartare was well liked -the chive butter and bread was awesome -nice lighting, chill music Cons: -got last of drinks ~an hour after sitting down, though wasn't very busy -drink was not as ordered -the chicken and potatoes was very bland, extremely watery -nobody had anything good to say about any of the food not above -hard to get waitstaff attention -~2 hours total -expensive for such an unpolished experience -(not really to blame) ran out of many menu items because of local events, limited many first choices

Perfect place to chill with a book. Simple food made fancy. Dark and charming

Nice ambiance and decent food, but they were out of most of the things on the menu that I wanted to order. Pot Pie had great crust but needed better filling.
