Cong Caphe (Annex)

This cafe was such a pleasant surprise!nnThe cafe was quite crowded when we showed up around 2pm on a Sunday. Most seats were all full, and there was a surprisingly vast amount of seating. There was a small line to order, but overall it moved fairly quickly and orders were prepared in a reasonable time.nThe interior is decorated to have such a cozy and intimate “vintage” vibe—reminiscent of Asian street stalls between alleys, but in the best way. The menu is actually quite a good size to offer both variety but not overwhelming choice, all with a pretty fair price point.nnI tried the coconut coffee, which comes in a slushy-like form. However, it doesn’t have the same iciness that a slushy would normally have, it’s actually quite smooth with very tiny micro ice crystals. The dose of Vietnamese coffee in this drink balances the light sweetness of the coconut, which results in a very delicious not-to-sweet drink. I would highly recommend trying it, and it’s really made me want to try more drinks from Cong Caphe!

Fantastic little cafe! The menu items were delicious and affordable. I ordered the coconut coffee super tasty, sweetness just right, coffee flavour on point and a brioche spinach pastry, they warmed it up for me so the cheese was nice and gooey and the bread was amazingly soft. Atmosphere is nice and cozy, though it tends to get a bit busy around noon and onwards so it might be difficult to find a place to sit if you come in a big group. Next time I come I’ll need to try the banh mi.

Had a Vietnamese coffee here when it first opened and I wasn’t a fan. It was a bit too thick and bitter for me.nnDecided to give it another try and got the coconut coffee and banh mi. The coconut coffee was amazing! I absolutely loved it and now I have regrets because this is how addictions start.nnThe banh mi was very good too. Bread was crispy and meat and veggie portions were generous.

Cong Caphe is a popular coffee shop chain in Vietnam and this is their first location in Toronto. In addition to serving the traditional Vietnamese drip coffee with condensed milk known as the brown coffee on the menu it offers a lot of refreshing and tasty coffee and tea variations, both hot and cold.nnIn addition, this place also prepares Vietnamese sodas think Italian soda but with exotic flavours such as salted lime.nnThe cafe is cozy and unique. It is hard to picture the place as a franchise because it doesn't have the cookie cutter feel to it.nnIf you like Vietnamese coffee or you are interested in new combinations of flavours, Cong Caphe is the place to be.

I tried the coconut green rice right most in the picture as the staff said it was a popular drink the ones with a star on the menu. The total for the drink with espresso was $9.02.nnIt didn’t come with coffee in it so it tasted like a very sweet Asian level and thick smoothie, which was unpleasant to drink.nnStaff were very nice when I asked for an order of a shot of espresso $1.05 after tax and this made the drink much better. The coffee balanced out the sweetness and the small bits of blended up green rice added some texture.nnHowever, the coconut green rice with a shot of espresso came to a total of $9.02 so very expensive. Though the interior decoration was interesting to look at, I don’t think the drink was worth that price in taste and experience.
