Great beef noodle soup, but a little overpriced I ordered the beef noodle soup and it had great umami and beefy flavour. Noodles were a chewy and dense texture and beef was cooked perfectly. However, the portion size of the meat and vegetables compared to the deceptively large bowl is dissapointing. The value of the dish is certainly lower than its price. Another nitpick I have is that about 75% through the meal, they brought out peanuts in a tiny dish to have. I'm not sure why they didn't offer it in the beggining if we were supposed to have it. Furthermore, my friend had a severe peanut allergy and they did not ask about this until they brought it out. Very dangerous situation and random event!!
Food quality/flavour and variety combined is 4/5 but I gave an extra star for them being open late even on weekends. Definitely a bit pricier than some of the other options on campus like around $20 per main dish but pretty consistent with lots of chains here in Vancouver. Staff were also nice and always seem to be working hard whenever we eat here. We have dined in and did take out and our experience have been more positive than most of the reviews here suggested. Definitely suggest you try for yourself and form your own opinion of it if you are intrigued.
My review got deleted about this place so im resposting it. this is what braised beef shank on rice looks like. 4 small shank of beef 3 small broccoli for $19.40 likee WTH… spend your 20bucks elsewhere.
If I begin to tell you the experience I had at this establishment, you would probably want to kill yourself. The food is absolutely horrible and the pricing is insanely high for the quality you receive...absolutely horrendous especially for university students. I had the beef shank on rice and wow was it gross. The beef tasted like a massive container of salt was dumped on top of it and was insanely fatty, the rice tasted old, and the 3 pieces of steamed broccoli tasted like water. The sauce tasted like salt water dyed brown. Not to mention the portions are tiny for the $16.50 you pay for it. We felt horrible immediately after and we are crossing our fingers and toes that we don't get food poisoning. Staff was just okay but we did have to flag her down as she never came to our table. Clean establishment though
This place is absolutely horrendous! The service was alright, but the noodles were extremely bland. The soup was like sour, stinky socks. The clear soup tasted like salty water. Overall a 1/10 experience. it was also really overpriced for two bowls of noodles. Do better chef hung you are bringing shame to this franchise!!
Decent flavor but it made my stomach feel odd.Food: 3/5
Great food. Great atmosphere. Speedy service. You HAVE to try the brisket. The soup base is marvelous. Do recommend! I'm not quite sure what other reviewers are talking about, maybe it's because I'm from Hong Kong so I'm more used to milder flavours but this is perfect!
Ordered the A2 noodle. For some reason, the soup tasted a little watered down compared to the last time I had it at the Aberdeen location. Next time I'll just go to Red Beef Noodle Kitchen for Taiwanese Beef Noodle. Although I didn't expect amazing service from a food place located at SFU, I did expect the bare minimum level of service which I didn't get. The restaurant was not busy at all but I had to go to the front counter in order to get anyone's attention. Even when I wanted to pay, I just waited at the front counter while the staff just went on their phones. As an alumni, I normally wouldn't care as I know how boring the job can be since it was a Sunday night and we're on a mountain so how much business can there be? However, the service was pretty bad, not going to lie.
I really hope the main company can close this branch. I tried to order 4 different dishes Pork feet noodles, pork intestine, sour spicy soup and boiled lettuce and they didn’t have any of them!? What kind of restaurant is that? Ok, finally, they did have pork sauce flat noodles. OMG, it’s the worst noodles I had ever had before!!! The fried pork chop rice was below average as well. I feel bad for students up in SFU. Seriously, Don’t waist your time and money in this restaurant.
It’s crazy how many things they have on the menu and each one is amazing. I came one night from SFU campus but everything was closed except the noodle house. I didn’t expect that I would be back the next morning. The watermelon shaved ice was so good and I even tried their beef noodle soup and corndog, both being so amazing and fresh. It was an amazing experience and I would definitely come back every once and then!
