Calan Beef Noodle

The noodle itself was very good, hand made noodle definitely tastes better. Had cumin lamb stir fry noodle and the soy bean paste noodle, flavor was okay nothing special, the soy bean paste was a bit salty. Good portion, we had leftover to take home, I was very full. I would go back to try the beef noodle soup, that’s the signature dish. It’s half self-serve style, overall the service was good, the waitress who worked there was very nice and attentive.

Delicious, authentic hand pulled noodles. The noodles have the perfect texture and “chew”, the flavours are perfectly balanced, and even the little side dishes were delicious. The house tea was surprisingly refreshing as well. The restaurant is reminiscent of little noodle shops that line the streets in China complete with self serve chop stick dispensers! Definitely a new favourite

Calan is a convenient stop off Centre Street if you’re looking for a hot bowl of traditional Chinese Lanzhou noodles and looking to spend under $20. I think I personally prefer more simple flavours for a beef noodle soup, because the flavours of mainland China veggies, seasoning, spices are quite novel to me. I enjoyed it but couldn’t finish the broth like I can with Taiwanese or Vietnamese soups. The braised beef tasted great and had nice marbling that helped to balance out the strong soup flavour, and the flat narrow noods are good stuff.

Very authentic lanzhou beef noodles. Signature hand pull noodle bar you can see through the window. Each bowl’s noodle is made fresh. When they serve soup is not very hot already and noodle is stick together at bottom plus the bowl they gave is very small so kinda have to eat very cautious but good taste for real. Also very good tea flavor boiled egg and side dishes. Space is little small if in rush hour you might need to wait. Parking is very limited too.

Ordered this through DoorDash for lunch and was not disappointed. Well-seasoned beef, flavourful broth I'd recommend you always add spicy because the chili oil is tasty, and of course, amazing hand-pulled noodles. The chew on them is great. The dish is very filling and we definitely have some dinner tonight. We will have to make time to visit the physical location so we can watch them make the noodles in person!

Their noodles are good, worth it to try the hand pulled noodles. Also they look like they're having an extraordinarily fun time making it as well! I love spicy noodles and brisket so I opted to get their spicy beef brisket noodle. Will come back again when I'm in Calgary again.Food: 4/5

No matter you like the thick noddle like udon or you want some thin noddle like hair. All the hand made noddle is the same size like a machine. It is art! The soup is super tasty and the sliced beef is tender. It was too delicious that I even finished the soup.

Calan beef noodle has been my comfort restaurant for 4 years now, absolutely love this place. You won’t get the same type of noodles anywhere else. You get your food fast, the service is good, and it’s a very cute spot. The only thing I don’t love is how limited the parking is, but I won’t bash the restaurant on that. Highly recommend coming here after an exam or a cold winter day!

Great service and delicious food. The braised beef noodle is superb, goes with the awesome add-ons. The noodles blended well it with the chili oil.

This place is a hidden gem if you want to explore amazing hand pulled noodles. We asked the server to suggest us for the most popular bowls. On suggestion we ordered hand pulled noodles with beef soup and hand pulled noodles with braised beef soup along with chilli oil and pickle. The food tasted amazing. Serving was generous. Highly recommended.
