Big way is my new favorite hot pot place. I can’t wait to come here more often in the winter. You can queue virtually and they text you when you can come in and choose your ingredients. 10 positions take about an hour so reserve your spot before coming in. Once you pay, you might gave to wait a bit to sit down. Your pot might be warm by the time you get seated. Ingredients look amazing. The kitchen staff know how to cook everything perfectly. They even provide gloves for peeling shells and shrimp. I just don’t like how you can pick up raw chicken then touch all the other vegetables with your used tongs. All the staff on the day I went were super friendly. I got candy while waiting outside in the rain, ice cream not too long after I finished my food and I didn’t feel rushed to leave. Next time, in going to try more of their drinks menu you can add alcohol and soup flavors. The prices are very reasonable. I got petty full on $25 of food. This place is so good I went for dinner twice the same night. Best with groups of 2-4 since the tables are quite limited.
This place was for sure cute! The way it is set up was pretty cramped but, for the space it was very well laid out to get as many people in and as many people out also. I might be old school but I imagined hot pot with the pot where you cooked everything that’s brought to you. This was a place a friend of mine wanted to try, and we tried it - for sure it’s unique. For the price, I feel it’s very reasonable and you do get what you pick to be full. TO THE POINT: • The bubble tea hits the sweet tooth . • The food overall is a good time saver. • The ice cream is generic soft serve. • If you’re with someone, you either get your meal before or after a quarter way done their food. OVERALL: Bang for your buck.
The concept is great but downside is you don’t know how much you’re paying until they weigh it. The line up was insanely long and there’s no waiting area. People were just crowding the front door and the service area. There’s a qr code when you come in to put your name down. It’s a very small place so either come really early or prepare to wait. We waited over an hour. I got the collagen beef broth and it was delicious. They actually take your pot and boil it in the kitchen so you don’t actually have the hot pot experience. I’m glad I tried it but it’s a personal preference I prefer actually cooking my own food. the brown sugar milk drink was good and they give you free milk tea soft serve after.
It’s like a Mongolian grill but hot pot style. Basically pick anything you want to eat from their selection, put it in your pot, weigh it, select your soup base and pay. It’s $3.99/100 grams, so it gets pricey quick. They have an extensive sauce bar complete with MSG but only raw garlic, no fried garlic and there isn’t any sesame paste. There’s a big selection of different proteins, including items I’ve never tried before like a mochi fish ball which was interesting, But mostly the basic proteins: beef, chicken, pork, lamb, fish, and other seafood. Nothing super out of the ordinary like ostrich, but they did have frog legs be aware they shrink a lot when cooked. There’s also a decent amount of vegetables and carb selection. I got the pork bone broth base that tasted great. It was flavourful enough that I didn’t really need that much sauce. Getting the little ice cream cone at the end was a nice treat. Staff were very friendly. Loved the virtual line that you can get into with the QR code at the entrance. Will definitely come back again.
Great new hot pot place in Burnaby. Went for their Grand Opening today. They were still working out some first day jitters but not a big deal. Ordered their #1 Ma La soup which was quite tasty. I ordered "mild" and still came out with a decent spice. Ingredients were fresh which was nice, but not everything was available when I went again, first day jitters. Their free ice-cream promotion was a nice treat. Thank you! Service was good, people are friendly. Again, first day jitters but I would work on explaining the whole process a bit better. Server seemed a bit confused as to explaining how this establishment serves its hot pot server asked if this was my first time here, as well as the cashier being confused about how to ring up my food. Lastly, other places come with free unlimited rice but Big Way charges $2.50 for a bowl of rice if that matters to you.
They had a variety of soup base to choose from. Really liked the #1 original soup base! The hotpot ingredients were all very tasty. Price was very friendly this type of mini spicy hotpot. Went on the soft opening day, they had the free ice-cream and free milk tea promotion. Would be perfect if they didn’t forget to add some sugar in our milk teas .. It’s one of my favourite mini spicy hotpot places now!
My first time here and I was surprised how much I liked it! The food was pretty good. I like how you can choose whatever you want and it's by weight. The only downside is the crazy wait time, which is to be expected for a good restaurant. In total I paid around $30 and I was super full. The tomato malatang soup is really good if you like a bit of spice to the tomato broth. I would definitely come back here again!
It might be not the best malatang place but this is a def still good one tho. They have various selections for the ingredients, some choices for your broth. I don’t enjoy fish balls or processed foods so I got mostly veggies and meat which are pretty light-weighted. I only paid $19 something including 15% tips and had decent portion to feed myself. They also offer free sweetened green tea and ice cream which is very nice. Nothing to be stingy about the quality or service since they already do the best for what you pay for :
fun experience and pretty good food! you get to self-serve the ingredients you want, then choose a soup base and let the staff cook your pot for you. there was a large selection of hot pot ingredients, with all of the essentials and some more unusual choices — like soft-shell crab. everything i tried was tasty!! the bubble tea was also good. the main criticism i have is that since the staff is cooking your entire pot at once, certain ingredients that might demand a shorter cook time become rubbery and hard. still, i would recommend!
This is my favourite hotpot place in Greater Vancouver! The restaurant looks beautiful with lots of wall art and decor. The service here is amazing as the staff are all very kind and helpful. The individual hotpot concept makes for a personal and convenient experience. The prices here are very good, and there is a wide variety of ingredients that you can pick from including meats, seafood, vegetables, tofu, and more. There are multiple broths to choose from. I have tried the Signature Ma La Tang and collagen bone broth and they were both delicious : The drink bar is also a huge highlight as they sell really good bubbletea to go along with your meal. You can finish off your meal with their featured ice cream flavour which is currently matcha. Overall 10/10 experience
