Best of Kin is a gem of a place I’d love to keep a secret. The food is great, the atmosphere is homey, and I can always grab a reso. But everyone deserves to experience the ‘Best of Kin Burger’ which I call their Smash Burger. The patties are grilled to perfection - juicy interior with crispy caramelized edges which adds a nice crunch to every bite. The pillowy brioche bun compliments the lettuce and patties and the ‘secret sauce’ brings everything together. This burger is what ever Big Mac dreams of being. I got a side of the soup of the day - potato and sausage soup - warm and hearty, perfect for a rainy and cold summer evening. Parking: Free but limited 2h street parking on 10th and 11th Ave Wheelchair accessibility: Automated doors which helps with getting in and out with crutches.
We love Best of Kin. Atmosphere is great, not to loud and not to quiet, drinks and food are A1. Not your typical pub fair. 5 gourmet. Try the dry rub wings. Your taste buds will thank you!Food: 5/5
Visited Best Of Kind Brewery: Highly Recommend Small Batch Beer on Tap: Friends Off - Pale Ale One of the first things that stands out about Friends Off Pale Ale is its inviting aroma. This beer greets with a delightful burst of citrus, tropical fruit and little bit of smoke that immediately pique my interest. The aroma is fresh and vibrant, setting the stage for a refreshing drinking experience. Upon taking the first sip, you taste well-balanced combination of hop bitterness and smooth maltiness. The hops used in Friends Off Pale Ale impart a pleasant and lively bitterness that is not overpowering, allowing the other flavors to shine through. The malt backbone provides a solid foundation, adding a subtle sweetness and a touch of smokiness to the overall profile. The beer goes down smoothly, leaving a clean and crisp finish that leaves you wanting more. It strikes a perfect balance between being flavorful and refreshing, making it suitable for both casual sipping and extended drinking sessions. Regarding beer snacks: Best of Kind Brewery offers an amazing selection of beer snacks to complement your drink: One standout option is the Mama Kwan + Parmesan Popcorn, which pairs exceptionally well with any type of beer. The combination of flavors, including a hint of spiciness, brings a delightful and enjoyable vibe to the snacking experience. It's a perfect choice for those looking for a tasty and satisfying accompaniment to their beer. Furthermore, I must also highly recommend trying the Marinated Variety of Olives. These olives are incredibly delicious and will leave you craving for more. The marination process enhances the natural flavors of the olives, resulting in a tantalizing taste experience. Whether you're a fan of olives or simply looking for a delectable snack, these marinated olives are a must-try.
We came here for a late get-together set up by our friend. The atmosphere was great, the food was delicious ya, we tried everything and our server was very friendly! The house Beers are phenomenal.Food: 5/5
We went to Best of Kin for some food and drinks yesterday. We sat on the patio. The inside was bright with interesting designs on the wall. Their small craft brewery was visible through a side wall. They brew in small 100 litre batches. The patio was a decent size with rustic reclaimed wood for the patio tables, which had umbrellas. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the tables, as they were pretty rough and the wood was sharp on the knees when I rubbed against the leg accidentally. I also noticed that due to the porous nature of the wood, there were grease and food stains. Our table had stuck on tomato from a previous guest and a grease stain right in front of me. The servers were very polite and helpful, although I had to prompt a couple times that I had no drink in front of me and needed a new one. Our server seemed to check out our table a couple times quickly, but didn’t catch that I had not been served. We ordered a variety of food including the Meze platter, smoked chicken wings, the fried cheese Arancini balls and brisket pizza. Everything was quite tasty with the brisket pizza being the best. The smoked wings were good, but lacked a real smoky character and at $18 for 8 wings were quite expensive. EDIT: after eating my leftover wings the next day, I must admit i do taste a smoky character, although the Korean BBQ sauce covers it up a fair bit. Quite tasty though The Meze platter was pretty nice. It had some great flatbread and the hummus was very tasty. I was not a fan of the baba ganoush though, i found its texture a bit off putting and its flavours didn’t really shine. The Arancini balls were cheesy, crispy and very nice. The beers were pretty good, the Dad beer was a nice balanced beer, the IPAs were great but the Friend’s Off Pale was not my favourite. Too much going on without any clear notes that I enjoyed. It seemed more like an ISA to me than a Pale. The lager was clean and crisp, nothing special but a good easy drinking beer. Overall, we did have a good time hanging out. There were several great food and drink items. There was a bit of room for improvement but I think many people would enjoy what they have to offer here. If you want a good IPA and a Pizza, check them out.
Always love a Brewery with some delicious food! Smaller menu, but great choices and need to try more! Tried the Smoked Wings and Corn Dogs. The wings were the BEST I've had... anywhere! I wasn't a huge fan of the mustard with the corn dogs, but dipped them in the jalapeno aioli that came with the wings and it was fire! Also really enjoyed the beer. Found a few that I enjoyed which doesn't happen often!
Wow! The food here is spectacular. Highly recommend the brisket sandwich. And anything with mama kwan aioli I added to my sandwich and others dipped fries in it. It has a nice kick. I got the daily soup, which was an amazing hungarian goulash. Wow! It was amazing for under $20! The beers were okay, smaller selection than other breweries, but the food here is beyond most restaurants in Calgary. I can't wait to go back!
A hidden gem in Sunalta which has a simultaneously intimate and an open space. If you sit near the stage, you can enjoy beautiful wall art while you are sipping and conversing. We were there for a birthday party and were greeted with a warmest welcome by their knowledgeable staff. Innovative, seasonally focused, and fresh tasting assortment of beer amazed our appetites. Silky, creamy, and smoky stout was my absolute favorite. Also, thrilled to have tasted their flavorful and detailed menu as you can tell a lot of care and love went into it. You must try their sandwiches with triple cooked fries. Cannot wait to go back there for brunch. Definitely worth a stop if you enjoy craft beer with pleasurable bites.
Beers are pretty good. The Best of Kin Burger was delish! Smoked brisket burger was slightly sweeter than I’d like. We’ll definitely come back.
Went for Saturday lunch at about Noon and due to the weather it wasn't busy. Comfortable ambience with exceptional service and knowledge of the in-house brewed craft beer on tap. Everyone in our group loved their food. If I lived in Sunnyside this would be one of my go to's.
