I called for a tow at 5:00pm from a scary bit of mountain hwy less than a hour out of Princeton. Every time the wind blew, rocks would roll down the hill and land by the truck. I was told a tow truck and a taxi were coming as they knew I had my family with me. They also knew the cell reception was bad. So bad in fact that I had to walk half a kilometre to stand on a concrete barricade by the side of the rd to get a call through. I called agin about 7:45 and I was told “a service provider will arrive in less than 72 minutes “. At 10:15 I called again and I was told nobody was coming. I was told they very were sorry but they had left me a msg. They abandoned my family by the side of the highway for over 6 hours in the heat. By then 2 out of 3 of our cell phones were out of battery we were all dehydrated. It took us an hour to find a tow ourselves but it was too late to get hotel in Princeton so we had to go further in the wrong direction to Keremeos. We got to a hotel finally at 2:30am. I will never trust BCAA again.
I am not a BCAA member, yet I renew my car insurance with them annually. Today, I encountered a highly unsatisfactory customer service experience with an individual whose name I prefer not to disclose. This individual displayed an unprofessional demeanor and attitude when I inquired about the increase in my insurance premiums compared to the previous year, especially given that I receive the maximum discount and have made no personal changes. In contrast, my prior interactions with other customer service representatives involved thorough, step-by-step explanations regarding premium fluctuations and detailed advice on potential savings or benefits. I believe this particular employee would benefit from additional training.
I’ve used BCAA roadside assistance multiple times, and unfortunately my experience has been consistently frustrating.nnThe main issue is the waiting time, which has been completely unreasonable on more than one occasion. In one case, we were told to stay with the vehicle and ended up waiting over 48 hours. Today, I’m dealing with a very similar situation again. I was told help was on the way and would arrive in about two hours—but now it’s the next day, and I’m still being told they are “on the way,” yet somehow won’t arrive for at least another hour.nnI understand that delays can happen, especially in remote areas or due to high demand. However, the lack of accurate communication and repeated false expectations make the situation much worse. Being left waiting for such extended periods without clear, honest updates is not acceptable for a service like this.nnAnother issue is simply trying to reach someone. The phone system is very difficult to navigate—the automated menu takes a long time, requires going through many options, and in my case didn’t even lead to a working solution. On top of that, it can be hard to clearly understand the representatives, which adds to the frustration when you’re already stuck in a stressful situation.nnI’m not expecting perfection, but reliability, clear communication, and accessible support should be a basic standard. Based on my repeated experiences, this is an area that clearly needs significant improvement.
I had one of their employees come to me to check the pressure in the tires on my RV before I drove it somewhere. They checked the tires, and I asked if one of the tires, upon their inspection, would make it for the drive that I intended to do, which I detailed. They said yes, shouldn't be a problem. On the drive, I ended up having a blowout on the aforementioned tire. The person that replaced the tire, from Kal Tire, told me I should never have been told to get on the road with that tire. The blowout, almost caused me to roll over and potentially have a much worse accident. Because I stated in my call to BCAA about a tow, that I thought the tailpipe had something to do with it, they've decided to deny my claim to replace the tires at their cost. It cost me $1,000 to replace the two tires.nnThe professional opinion of their employee, led me to feel safe getting on the road. Instead, I could have lost my life. This is reckless endangerment on the part of BCAA.nnInstead of accepting responsibility, they tried to blame me. Avoid at all costs doing anything with BCAA. They are not trustworthy.
I had a fantastic experience working with Anna for my home insurance. She was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and took the time to explain all my options clearly. Her advice was honest and helpful, and she made the entire process smooth and stress-free. I really appreciated how responsive and professional she was throughout. Highly recommend Anna to anyone looking for great service and expert insurance advice!
