My friend and I visited Bar Koukla for brunch and overall had a great experience. The food was delicious and the service was great. The staff did a great job of managing their time to ensure that there was no delay, as there was another reservation after us. However, the noise level was a bit too high for my liking. It was difficult to have a conversation, and the noise level was almost ear piercing at times. Despite that, the food and service are definitely worth it. Recommend the Baklava pancakes.
We saw this place recommended on Instagram and since brunch is always a good idea — we made last minute reservations for their Aegean inspired brunch. Quick note: our reservations were for 230pm + we were told that the kitchen stops taking orders at 245pm, we had already explored the menu — but something to be mindful of otherwise, super rushed. We wished we had known that piece but all worked anyways. Service was GREAT. Attentive and available but not hovering or ever made us feel rushed. Food was good. Definitely gorgeous in their visual aesthetics. We were happy we had picked a few dishes to share because of being able to try more than one thing but also that one, two bites was perfect. The atmosphere was great and the cocktails were really good especially the tzatziki one! They’re definitely an experience. Not quite what I recall from being in the Aegean Sea earlier this year but the inspiration is clear.
What an experience Koukla was! The food was divine and every single dish was unique, flavourful, fresh, and beautifully displayed. The vibes in the bar were really relaxed yet refined. The staff were super nice and helpful with their recommendations. Definitely get a bunch of plates and share them with friends. We got the tomato salad, the tuna crudo, the calamari, the lamb ribs, and the croquets. Everything was DELICIOUS. I will for sure be back and next time I want to come back for the brunch because I hear it’s to die for!
Greek brunch! A first for me and something I'd love to see more of back home. The truffle kolouri with eggs was great. And the baklava pancakes were next level. They do some great coffees and cocktails too! A great brunch spot that's well worth a visit if you're in Toronto.
Tried this place for the very first time! It is actually a cool place to sit and chat. The vibe is amazing. The food is fantastic and delicious! The prices are super reasonable and the quantity is just right! Our waitress was fantastic with great customer service. Will surely be back again
The lamb ribs were finger-licking good and my highlight, bee pollen butter for the koulori was interesting, the scallop crudo was refreshing, the calamari was lovely dipping sauce tied it all together, and the fish sandwich was a creamy, wonderful, concoction. Four stars mainly for the portion size as it's quite small for the price. A small piece of it is also that the staff seems a bit unengaged.
Pros: DELICIOUS food, so much flavour in each bite! The Koulouri & Eggs is great for someone who likes fish caviar and what seems like a fish dip. The baklava pancakes are SO soft and 100% worth trying. Cons: Portion sizes are small, especially for the price. Expect to order about 2 dishes each for a full meal.
This is my time trying Greek style brunch at Bar Koukla. Amazing experience with great quality food. We ordered a Baklava pancakes, and the most popular Spanakopita Florintine. Both are wonderfully presented and taste good. The yogurt cream with the crispy pancake is a beautiful combination. The poached egg on the stinging nettles are an interested combination. I strongly recommend this spot for brunch. Only down side is a bit tough to find parking spot.
Beautiful restaurant. Great for date night or evening with friends. Extremely friendly service and a good collection of vegetarian items. Extensive menus on food and drink. Beautiful decor and ambience. Great music choices. Fun furniture and great, eclectic bathroom decor too!
I went there for dinner & drinks after hearing about this spot & also seeing multiple good reviews. Unfortunately I was not thrilled with it, the drinks were good, but the food is NOT good at all. Very small kitchen which is in the same area as the bar & not super sanitary. It’s also pricey for the tiny portions they provide you. Would i visit again? Sure maybe just for drinks before or after a proper dinner.
