Avis Car Rental

I signed up for their Preferred service some months ago, and what a way to go. I also suggest downloading the App so you can view and make changes if required. I arrived at the preferred counter, was greeted with a smile, my reservation was on the board, showed my license, and off I went. Less than 2 minutes. Returning the vehicle was just as simple! My receipt was emailed to me before I even walked into the airport. Some reviews of waiting in line, is your fault, for not being organized. Excellent service, excellent systems in place!

After my current experience with Avis I do not recommend nor will I ever use their services again They will charge you at every chance they get and provide no customer service for resolving issues. I booked my reservation with a credit card that allows a complementary driver to be added to the rental. The employees had no idea about the promotion and would not resolve the issue for us. This was very time consuming and stressful and ultimately left us with no choice or solution. I was given the contact of two employees, one being the Avis Calgary airport manager. I have reached out via email and phone and have had no response. Finally, our flight was cancelled today due to weather and rescheduled for 5 hours later and an Avis representative at the airport said we would be charged an additional $150 for that amount of time. After the amount of time this company has cost us and lack of response and customer service I would stay far away from this rental service. This company will nickel and dime you at every turn.

Most unprofessional car rental service I've ever seen. We did a car reservation through their website and called right after noticing that the credit card holder wasn't going to be the driver. Over the phone the employee said there is usually a $10 fee for extra driver but he would give it to us for free. Next day we go to pick up the car from Calgary's airport and employee says we have to pay. Long story short he makes us call customer service while standing at their location. Person on the phone says they do see the $10 credit and we asked him if he could tell that to the Avis employee standing in front of us, but apparently the employees "can't talk to each other" and they refused. We asked the first employee to check under "remarks" and that's when he saw the note. As an apology for the hassle he "upgraded" our sedan for a SUV. But then we ask "you don't really have the Chevy impala available do you?" His answer "no, it has BC plates and you are not returning it to BC, so can't give it to you". Thanks for your generous upgrade?

My flight from Toronto was delayed by over an hour, so I arrived into Calgary after 2am. I knew that this location closed at 2am, but when I arrived at the desk at about 2:20 the young lady was still there, patiently waiting for me! This despite the fact that she didn't know what flight I was on (the central reservation agent didn't ask me for this information). The fact that the agent stayed late allowed me to get to the hospital in time for my Aunt's last moments of consciousness before she passed away one day later. I wish I could remember the young lady's name so I could thank her and give her public recognition, but I was so stressed I barely remembered my own name.

Very nice experience! The staff was kind and courteous. I got free upgrade which was very nice. The whole process of picking up and dropping off was very easy and quick. Highly recommended.
