I absolutely love Greek food and Penelope is really delicious. I was there for lunch before a matinee at the Princess of Wales, so it was extremely conveniently located. Due to the King Street pilot project, it doesn't make sense to drive down there and try to find parking, but transit is extremely convenient and I didn't miss not having my car. The food was good and the views were gorgeous; I could see the theater right out the window. We had both types of lamb and the calamari; my favourite was the lamb chops. I was there on a Wednesday and the restaurant was busy enough. The service was satisfactory and the meal came out quickly. Even though there were a lot of people, it didn't feel like we were packed in like sardines and the noise level wasn't too high.
The chicken and salad weren't that bad, but the overall experience was pretty low. For the given price, however, I would give this place a 1 star since it is NOT WORTH AT ALL! There are many other good options nearby that I wish I had chosen over this place. Will not come back.
Had the dip with pita bread, it was delicious! The lamb chop and rack of lamb we had was ok, asked for medium rare and got dried medium. Server told us to ask for rare next time so the kitchen would make it medium rare. Price for dinner is a bit more expensive compared to the lunch menu for the same portion.
Very good ambience, less options in Vegetarian food but Vegetable Souvlaki was very delicious. I would love to visit again to have the same dish. Great blend of flavours with a Greek yogurt on the plate. Staff is really friendly. A bit overpriced, but Downtown with Greek food will definitely come with a price. The best part I liked was the juicy Mushroom and that was the show stopper of the recipe. A must visit at this Greek Food Restaurant.
I really enjoyed the roast lamb here. The place has a Greek theme air of elegance to it. Very proper. Waiters were very nice and formal. This place is on street level in the heart of the financial district. Very nice in the summer. The street it's on is hustling with activities in the warmer months. I love coming here.
The saganaki, pictured here, was the highlight of the meal. The balance was not. The Greek salad was anything but and the salmon on top of it was dry. The octopus was tough. I am giving it three stars because the service was good. In their defense, I hope that the entrees are better.
Food was outstanding except for the fact that my small bread plate was previously used and had bread crumbs on it already. Anyway food is on the pricey side but well worth it.
Enjoyed our meal here. The fish was good and came with salad, rice and potato.
Had a work event here. It was excellent. Delicious food, generous portions the lamb was very tasty, reasonable prices, friendly and accommodating service. All in all it was a very successful event. Family restaurant in the heart of the city. They actually know how to run a restaurant. They are flexible for these events and are miles above their competition for service and value.
The food was fantastic! We had a large group attend with everyone ordering a different meal. Everyone's concerns were met gluten free, vegetarian, allergies.... Not one complaint! The service was exceptional. Will happily go there again. Great location across from the Theatres. Let them know and they will be sure to have you out in time to see your show!
