Overall, not a bad gym. I don't like how there is no natural light in this gym but that's just a personal preference. Aside from that, the gym is working towards being more inclusive of varying training styles.
I have been a member with City Centre since around 2011 or 12 and there's a reason I haven't strayed to a different gym, even with the other new options out there. The gym environment is great, the equipment is usually functional and in good condition.... and I definitely appreciate the plethora of towels! Doug Jones is super helpful, often offering me training tips and usually finding my wrist wraps when I drop them. Nicoline, Ari and Josee are also friendly and have offered tips with my technique on various exercises. I would most definitely recommend to this gym to anyone looking to fulfill their fitness needs.
It is a decent gym, and the new machines they added recently are actually great. The main reason I am giving this location a 5 star review are Erica in reception, and Doug Jones, who is my personal trainer. Erica is warm and really friendly, and makes me feel welcomed and appreciated every time I go to the gym. She is absolutely an asset. Doug is an excellent trainer. He is patient, and he pushes more and more every session. He is not afraid to call it like it is, and always makes our sessions fun, different, and excruciating in a good way.
I have been with gym memberships for at least 15 years in total. On and off from time to time but now I feel safe and confident knowing that I have found a really good fitness club that I can completely trust. Evariste, guided me with so many facts and was so nice with the sign up process. Even the manager at this location was so understanding. All the staff at this location were super friendly too! I strongly recommend this location! Double thumbs up!
Training at World Health City Centre has been very good in my opinion. While the main factors in my joining this particular gym were due to the fact that my office has a corporate discount at World Health and it's proximity to my apartment, I hope to continue training here for the foreseeable future, even if I move a little further away. The staff have always been friendly and willing to help me with generally any questions I have. I have cancelled my membership previously and while I was questioned why, the location manager did not try to force me to keep it or give me any hard sales pitch to keep my membership. But I think one of the main reasons I will be willing to come back to the City Centre location is the people I have met here. Working with a trainer for the last six months has allowed to actually get to know some of the other staff and trainers working there. Training at 6am most days means I also get to see the same people a lot, and having some actual genuine relationships with trainers and other people makes it a lot easier to get into the gym! Another note about the trainers here. There are definitely some really good ones, who are not there just to make a quick buck. They are seriously interested in improving your health and fitness and make paying for training sessions really worth it! While its not the biggest space and it often gets busy, all other other things that the City Centre location has will mean that I will be coming back for a long time.
When trainers are having sessions with clients they occupy 4-5 gym machines so their client can use it. Looks like they don't care about other members who are there to train as well. Without notifying my membership was renewed and I was charged for gym maintenance fees. When i asked at the center about it, i was told "go ahead and cancel if you don't like it" . Year back their staff was very nice to me to get the annual membership contract signed, when I expressed my concerns they were rude and asked me to cancel.
Amazing knowledgeable staff! Used to work out at another gym and never really felt as comfortable as I do at world health. The trainers are always there to help you whether you buy training or not, and you are seen as more than money which is super refreshing. Everyone is so engaging and the place really is my home away from home. I’m so glad I stumbled into this place as it’s helped me immensely physically and mentally. Thanks guys !
I briefly had a membership at World Health's Jasper Avenue location. The staff were always friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. The facility was always clean and the equipment was in good condition. Their group classes were fantastic - a lot of fun and a great workout! Unfortunately, their landlord decided to use an out clause on their lease and that location had to close on short notice. We were offered the chance to move to the City Centre location with a promise that rates would not increase for at least two years. Unfortunately, this made it too long of a walk to go there for my lunch hour workouts, so I had to cancel. Because of the circumstances, World Health waived my 30 day cancellation requirement and stopped my billing immediately. They did not have to do this and I appreciate that they did. I would sign up again at the City Centre location in a heartbeat if my office were closer to it.
All the staff are super friendly and always welcoming they always answer all the questions I have throughly no matter the complexity. I love my trainer Ariana, she always makes working out so much fun and educational, never a dull moment even though it can be challenging. I recommend this gym to my friends and family.
