Came with some friends for happy hour, it wasn’t too busy so the server was very attentive and provided excellent service. We had the buck-a-shuck oysters, lobster rolls and crispy Brussel sprouts. Oysters turned out well, the sprouts were a little soft when we would have preferred crispy, but overall an enjoyable experience!
Went there for Happy Hour with a few colleagues. Loved the service and food. I would probably skip the buck a shuck oysters. Some of the oysters served barely had anything in them and the person shucking the oysters needs to do a better job...shells in almost all the oysters we had. Just not a friendly experience. Will definitely come back.
Having been a fan of the food at The Flying Pig, I’ve been looking forward to trying WildTale for quite some time as it was opened by the same chefs. Actually, the WildTale in Olympic Village is just a stone’s throw away from The Flying Pig on West 2nd Ave. We started our meal with some Buttermilk Fried Oysters $4.25 per piece fried up and served with tartar sauce as well as a kale salad. And it isn’t really a festive occasion unless you add some drinks so we ordered a Blue Empress $12.50 and Smoking Rose $12.25. They also had a special with Clams and Mussels with Frites served in a white wine broth. I like that they include both clams and mussels as usually you only see this served with mussels. For our main, we ordered the Arctic Char $19.75 which is simply grilled as well as the Rosemary Lamb Chops $32.75. The lamb chops, served on a bed of goat cheese mashed potatoes with a cabernet jus, turned out amazing! The lamb was so tender and juicy… Although we were stuffed, we ordered the Apple Crumble for dessert and were surprised at how large this was. I can still taste the spiced apple pieces when I look at this picture. It’s more than enough for sharing and I don’t think we finished it. Overall, service was friendly and the food was super tasty.
First time here and they had all day happy hour for Easter weekend. The atmosphere and decor is nice. They have tv screens with sports playing if you’re into that. For happy hour, highballs were $5 and cocktails were $6. I also tried their dark and stormy cocktail and it was delicious. Pass on their negroni, way too many bitters in it. As for Food, skip the sesame seared albacore tuna. Hawaiian Poke was ok but not stellar. Oysters were pretty good with a tray of sauces as well. Short rib sliders were ok. My fav was their bbq chicken wings cause it tasted like backyard wings. Service was good, washrooms were nice.
Nice ambiance and the waitress we had was very accommodating. Being able to see into the kitchen is always nice and they promote using local sustainable fish on their menu though some items on there are from quite a distance away. The food was very nice looking and tasting though one pasta dish with olives was quite salty, luckily it was being shared so we could tolerate it, but no one at our table would be able to eat it all themselves as a main.
It's from the dine-out menu. It's a nice pub that's why is a little noisy. The medium rare steak is a bit hard and dry on the surface but soft and juicy in the middle so it caused to be chewy. Good deal during happy hour!
Came here for dineout and we enjoyed the appetizer and entree. The dessert was too frozen for us to eat, however, our server offered to provide another dessert which kindly declined. The gentlemen at front needs a little bit of work on his demeanor. We felt like he forgot to seat us since it was only supposed to be approximately a 10 minute wait and we saw many other people get seated ahead of us. We did have a reservation. It was not a big deal since we waited for 20 minutes and then double checked with him then we were seated right away.
The food was cold, the steak wasn't medium rare like I asked for. They told us the chicken they had didn't look good so we couldn't order anything with chicken. I can't wait to never go back. The bread was Rock hard. The following pics show their 40$ steak... I'll let you be the judge of value.
Went for dinner during Dine Out Vancouver. Meal was so delicious! Appetizers were all fabulous. Entrees arrived and there were temperature issues with the majority of the plates group of 8. Was handled very quickly. as many know this can really ruin a meal. As those with food feel uncomfortable eating but if they wait their food gets cold, the whole thing can be a real drag. but the new entrées arrived quite quickly along with apologies. And we were able to continue our enjoyable evening. Dessert was the cherry on top. Will definitely be dining here again!!
Have been here many times and have always enjoyed my experience, whether for lunch, dinner, or afterwork drinks. The food has never disappointed. You must, you must, you must try the Classic Cobb Salad. I'm not a salad person myself, but the smoked bacon in this salad is what you need to taste. This is a salad that you can make friends with.
